I was looking at my Inara junk, and thinking of what updates it needs.

Roles. One role there is "freelancer". What do people think this means? I think it means that you're an independent pilot who does a bit of, well, everything, travelling around doing junk.

This sound right, or does somebody have a more solid definition?

Freelance to me means basiclly "self employed" in any proffesion or indeed multiple ones. Why I changed my sig to "Freelance Smuggler!"

I've been called a Freelancer a few times, always looked on it as an insult.... wait a minute, I think the word used was Freeloader

When i play i do tend to think of my self as a freelancer, however i do tend to have rank with empire and the feds.

Actually, you're closer to the truth than you may realize! The term originally referred to mercenary knights, who were "free" to pledge their "lances" to the highest bidder.
