Newcomer / Intro Duke it out for 2m credits?

As the title says really. Is it viable to mix it up in pvp for a couple of million?
Thinking of investing in a viper but only have about 3.5m all together and wand to keep at least 1.5m for insurance/cargo/rares for the Cobra I have.
I'd obviously start solo for a night or two to get my eye in then go find some trouble online.

Can I resonably equip a viper for 2m credits.. If so any advise on how..?
Obviously I realise it won't be a pwn machine but I feel like mixing up my play time, I need a break from trading for a bit.

You can certainly build a viable Viper for that sort of money, you might lose out to money-no-object fits, but I don't think you can spend that much more on a Viper.

Play around with EDShipyard, I came up with this: http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=50M,7tw7tw4ws4ws3we01Q,314s4s5U3m4s5K3c,03w7Pm7dg
It is within your price range, but I bet a proper Viper pilot would come up with a much better fitting.

Nice one CMDR that's very roughly what I guessed at.

Would like to hear from some combat aces too. Where are you guys?

I'm no combat ace, but I do have a couple of CMDR kills (they shot first) and over 500 NPC kills in the Viper.

That's a fair loadout, although I'd suggest that you want neither the B3 shield nor the E3 FSD. B-class kit is well-armoured but is always significantly heavier, which will impact on maneuverability. The E3 FSD just has a crap range. D-class kit is lighter, so I'd go for a D3 FSD if I absolutely couldn't afford the the A3. The fixed multicannon are awesome - I've just been using a pair in a warzone, and if you can get the bead and stay on it, they're really powerful. Pythons go down surprisingly quickly.

Question: Do you really think you'll need the shield cell bank? They're not a mid-battle hotfix anymore - with the 0D KWS, you'll need to stow your hardpoints to use it or you'll kill your shield. This would be bad. The alternative is to switch it off, then manually switch it on when you need it. You can probably write a macro that will do this with one keypress if you have a keyboard with macro keys or some other piece of software to automate the process.

Having flown with military-grade bulkheads for a long time, and flown without them tonight, I think you have to make a decision between maneuverability and strength. In my opinion, if your shield goes down, you've lost - the A3 shield on the Viper is arguably the strongest in the game. If your opponent gets your shield down, mil-grade composite won't allow you to tank it out. It might help you to not die as you run away.

With the B class shield and military grade armour, you probably weigh 20t more than you would with an standard bulkheads and an A class FSD. I know what I'd do.

I agree get a solid shield and if it goes down turn & burn.

I rather love my cannons on my viper, a few well placed shots and most small ships are done for.

Great advise man thank you. Can't rep on my phone but +1

Answer to your question: I've never ran with the cell bank so have no problem not using it unless I'm continually hammered.
I hate getting turned by, but live to turn an opponent so manuverability is important.

Not sure I can get on tonight but deffo the viper and pvp is my next "game target".

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still waaaayss of getting enough bounties done to get even 2M cr together. Guess I'll have to go buy a trading ship first to get that cash.

Let me +1 100th monkey :-D
