Dumb question!

While switching from exploring to some simple trading for a day I managed to barely avoid interdiction by a Commander in a Viper. It made me think: how exactly do I jettison cargo if a pirate asks for it? To date I've never had to. I'd rather. Be safe than sorry. Just in case!

There's a hotkey for that, I think it's "End". (I reassigned it, so I'm not sure - check the control layout.) Never used it myself.

Hold the phone!

Don't use the end key. That jettison's your entire cargo!

Un-bind that key before you do anything else, so you don't drop everything by mistake.

You jettison cargo from the 'cargo' tab in the right hand UI Panel. There you can select how many canisters to drop. You can jettison, which marks the cans as stolen, or abandon, with doesn't.

A pirate in a Viper will probably only be able to take 8t of cargo max Maybe less. No reason to dump whole cargo bay. I they are any good they will scan your cargo bay and ask for something valuable. If you want to dump anything specific you can do that from your cargo tab in the system panel.I agree unbind that key
