Dump the type 6 for a type 7 ?

So I made the steps from Sidewinder (sold it) -> Adder (sold it) -> Cobra (stated as cargo runner, kept it for pew-pew) -> Type 6 (kept it just in case I lost the ASP) -> ASP (keeping it for explorer, trade grinding now).

So I've got my ASP covered (see what I did there? would that be called CYA :D) but now I'm considering getting a Type 7 at which point I wouldn't need the Type 6. My ASP has 120T cargo cap so I'm good there as a trading backup and the Cobra.

So the question is, sell the Type 6 and its "A" fittings which would get me to the Type 7 quicker. Or keep the Type 6 because (??) which will take me longer to get to Type 7

Keep the 6 in case of tragedy. I came within a few credits of losing my T-7 and insurance just covered it. Without that I would be back with a sidey.

I kept all my ships. As for buying the 7 go for it. Doubles the cargo of the Asp.

Since you already have an Asp with more cargo capacity than the T6, I see no reason to keep that as well. I'd just sell it and get a T7!

I always saw the Type 6 as an Asp with less combat ability, so if you plan on keeping the Asp; you can certainly dump the Type 6.

okay .. I was leaning towards dumping the Type 6. But it has a very visually appealing hull. Hard to believe the same design crew designed the hull of the Type 7. Must have been a "Friday" hull.

shadragon - I'm keeping the ASP. I can always refit from explorer back to hauler if needed.

I've got 5 mil liquid in hand currently so selling the Type 6 and "A" fit might just put me there. Maybe .. haven't talked to the Lakon sales lady yet. (man, btw, she is a fullon hottie !)

Looking at Elite shipyard, I reckon I need about 18 million (plus insurance!) for a trading T7. So I won't be getting one for a while yet.....
The next thing on my shopping list is the A5 drive for my exploration Asp (got a B5 at the moment) so that's what I'm saving for at the moment....

I'm currently trading in my asp which has 108 cargo space and am wondering whether I should also buy a type 7.....the question I have is can the type 7 land at outposts? Whilst I want it for increased cargo capacity I don't want to find myself restricted to only trading at large stations.

no. type 7 requires large landing pads. you can slightly increase your asp's cargo space by putting shields in a size 3 slot and filling the previous slot with another cargo rack.

Type 7 is large landing pads only, so no more outposts for that. The current largest cargo ship that can land at outposts is the python.

Oh shame...thanks for a swift reply. With the python costing 55mil looks like it will be sometime before I can get a ship with a significantly larger cargo capacity then!:D

Yes. Plus I always upgrade ships only after I have spare cash for several times the insurance and cargo. So the issue of 'losing a ship' isn't much of one.

The thing is: with the T7 you'll have the cash to additionally rebuy the Asp very quickly (3 hours or so). Even though you lose 10% on the sale that is quickly recouped by the 100% increase in cargo capacity.

First sell the A fittings, then the Type-6 ;)

You do not need a Type-6 when you have an Asp.

Type-7 is a better money maker than both, I don't know what speaks against selling the T-6.

I have all 3 of them, kept the T6 and kitted it for Exploration, the Asp as a battleship/bounty hunting and the T7 for hauling credits. It cant get better than this.

Keep the type-6. in case of type-7 destruction. Also, you can land a 6 on medium pads - but a 7 needs large pads.
Besides, you might want to play the game of "I want to try medium pad trading only"
or use the Type-6 as a budget explorer. Or how about a "You're doing it wrong" and rig the thing up as a tank and go do combat with it, why? for giggles. so why not ;-)

Sell the ship and whilst you get credits, you loose the option.

So that felt weird. I ripped her apart and sold everything last night and I felt bad for doing it. Why do we (I) become attached to things like that I'll never know.

anywho .. doubled my 5mil kitty to over 10.3 mil now. So little ways to go still before I can spring for a T7.

I'd actually thought about dual rolling the T6 (trader/explorer) but since I have the ASP with its 120T cargo area and it appears to be better at either roll .. heck, even a third roll of pewpew hull. I figure I'd move to the T7 for purely trading. Maybe a T9 if the isk ..... errr credits start rollin in.
