Dust Buster Mod in VR - Highly Recommended!

Not sure if you all who play ED in VR are familiar with the Dust Buster mod, but I highly recommend for VR.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-space-dust-removal-mod?highlight=dust+buster

Basically, the dustbuster mod removes the flying dust when in SC or normal space. I use it to disable dust in SC and it really improves the VR experience. I keep the red tracking lines active, but simply drop the dust. This allows for a cleaner SC experience given the dust rendering in SC is quite large in VR and obtrusive. In normal space I keep dust active as it helps gauge ship orientation/direction.

All in all, I highly recommend the mod in VR if you are not using it already!

Cool!

Is there a way of removing the side lines that appear in SC?

Also.
Does this app increase dust as well as remove? I would like slightly more dust in normal flight to help with vector.

Thanks!

Doesn't work on my Rift. It doesn't matter if I copy files to my Steam version or Oculus version of ED.
Everytime ED is crashing.
I'm copying all files (with subdir) to '..\Products\elite-dangerous-64' folder (the same where EliteDangerous64.exe exists).
And it doesn't matter if I run oculus in Rift Core 2.0 mode or not.

NVidia GTX 1080 card.

Without VR it works perfectly

Did you try setting: dustmod dll (d3d11.dll) must be set as readonly

It's included as part of the mod, you just need to move a few files around, it's detailed in the readme :)

Also, bear in mind you'll need to reinstall this every time elite updates because it will overwrite the change. No big deal really, but worth bearing in mind.

Dust helps you to know the vector your ship is on. You only really need it when there are no other visual cues you can use.

You need it constantly if you wanna fly good in fa-off :)

Except surfing planets of course

In combat it is impossible to do good without it

I don't know...

Why is that? I tend to just use the target as my relative but I am not the best FA Off pilot in the world. I only ever use dust when I don't have anything I can use as my relative. Relative being a target ship or cargo etc.

I am not sure when I look at dust tbh

BUT

I defo do use it and defo want more of it!

Agree. I've tried FA Off but I can barely see the dust. I'd like the option to increase it.
I don't remember dust being an issue in SC, but I haven't played in a month.

Not sure... I don't find the dust intrusive. Occasionally one speck will look like it has ended up in the cockpit with you, but that's about it.

Perhaps @DrKaii can add it to the ED Profiler?

Haven't played in SC for a while either, waiting for 3.1 so I can get into my Reclaimer!
