Dynamic Outposts

Hello FD!

I suggest that when an outpost changes hands, bits and bobs on it could change - say, when pirates take over an outpost, they'll stick up a mast with holographic skulls and paint it in skulls and crossbones, as the original pirate stations are.

That's all. There are stations that still project skulls but are civilized, and vice versa, which isn't optimal. Thanks!

I take it this is paired with the suggestion of station names possibly changing when BGS flips ownership?

It's a good idea and I think MB recently alluded to the fact that the groundwork for this type of stuff has been laid with the planet surface stations/outpost code. I sure hope so anyway... automating it is the only practical way to go about it, the galaxy is too big for FD to handle this type of stuff manually.

Sounds good. That said, I'd also just love to be able to have a decent chance of running into Pirate & Smuggler bases-of varying size-on planetary surfaces. It'd be even better if they could have these bases protected by NPC ships & SRV's!

Just make it the same as the auto-repairing turrets for ground bases.

If we can take damage from the station, we should be able to get a big enough wing to hurt them back. Think about it. A wing of Condas not only blockading a station but actively striking at it and making it send out distress signals. It'd be a hell of a CQ.
