E: D has ruined PC gaming for me...

... As it's the only game I seem to play. There are plenty of new games available, and even a bunch of sales to boot. Yet despite all those attractive alternatives, and despite the high probability of a wipe post-gamma, I keep playing.

Either Elite's pretty darned good, or I'm a bit of a tool. Possibly both. :D

Nice! For me it's return to PC gaming. I built a rig just to play it. I've been playing console only since PS3. Even ordered DK 2, so excited.

To tell you the truth, I dont mind the wipes if it makes the game better. Finding your way out from a different system is a lot of fun.

LOL I feel the same way. I have new games in my library but they are all getting ignored sine Elite has been in my life.

For the first time in ages I'm ignoring the Steam sale. There's nothing I want. I haven't played any other game than Elite : Dangerous in ages!

I have been on board for many months dipping in and out of the game. Not grinding, because I want to save that for the real game, because then it does not feel like grinding.... its part of the adventure. :)

Yet since Gamma....

Food is tasteless...

Colours are all so.... bland...

The cat sometimes misses a meal...

Nappies last almost a whole day on my 1 year old son before they need changing.... last change I used 5 wet wipes.... my PB

After 25 years, 2 minute noodles are back as my 'go to' meal.

I collect eggs from the chicken run so rarely now.... the chicken is 2 feet off the ground sitting on a rather impressive pyramid of eggs...

Last time I watched the news, Ebola was a 1970's thing....

My sons first word was....."Cobra".

A tumble weed blows across my veg patch, its so dry....

My wife has left me, my mistress has gone back to her husband.... and my neighbours wife is buried under the patio...

...Ive said too much.

Back to my ship....

I am so glad to be back into a a space sim that looks as beautiful as I imagined it could be back when they were just simple wire frames or basic polygons. Finally, I can revel in the beauty of space as I shower death upon those who have the precious goods I so desire!

However, I have a full library of Steam, GOG, and Origin games that I may not play for years now. I get the feeling that entering into the inky blackness of space sprinkled with the stars and sights of the milky way, I may have trouble coming back home to the usual fare in my gaming library. If E : D is everything it seems it may be, I may not play the original Elite, Wing Commander, Privateer, or the X-Wing / Tie Fighter games for a long while. In a way, that is kinda sad. It is like saying goodbye to my childhood.

Great post. Same here, heh. I must admit, this was the game that finally woke me up to the (blindingly obvious, I know) fact that I don't really a games console anymore to play videogames on the huge screen whilst relaxing, laying almost horizontal on the comfy couch in the living room. All I needed was a long hdmi cable & USB hub extension for my mouse, keyboard, TrackIR, throttle, stick. Can't believe I didn't do it sooner. I'll still need that PS3 for Red Dead Redemption though, grrr...

I pulled my poor old x-45 out of a box and now I am thinking about:
How many momentary switches I can fit on the throttle when i refurbish it.....
How can I mount it to my chair
Where will the track IR i am getting for Xmas sit
Do i really want to get track ir or just jump to O'Rfit
Where can i fit the Simpit thats trying to escape from my imagination...
/sigh

I'm onto my 2nd notebook which I flick through when I'm not playing in an effort to spot commodity trends.

Oh dear where has the entrance to the rabbit hole gone!

I have played EVE for 7 years but Elite is everything I always dreamed of EVE to be... For instance, not controlling my ship with "magic". :)

Time to grow a beard and loose all my friends... Again. :p

The empire needs people like you. Give in to it. :)

Shok.

I have actually cancelled dates to come home and play E: D. And that's BEFORE I got my Rift which is OH MY GH0D I AM ACTUALLY SAT IN AN ACTUAL SPACESHIP AND STOP EVERYTHING ELSE THIS IS MY LIFE NOW.

I am undone. Lost. This is the end of my road, and I walk off into the abyss with a ridiculous grin on my face.

Thanks, Frontier. Thank you, David Braben. And thank you, Commanders. I shall see you out there.... because gh0d knows you won't see me in the pub with a book anymore....

I bought the Premium Beta months ago, but hardly touched it.

I bought "This War Of Mine" two weeks ago, and couldn't stop playing it, thinking, "Wow, now *this* is a special game, I doubt anything will peel me away from it".

Gamma E : D released. Installed it, played it, and I haven't looked at T.W.O.M. since.

:)

same for me even though it obviously still needs polish and balance i keep finding myself back in trying to get that empire permit.

and strangely even with me buying a bunch of skins im still saving money as im simply not interested in any other games right now nor have i played any since beat 1.02 (wow that's huge when you think about it) i have simply tuned steam off all together! for the first time in years and it's nice not to have it clamouring for attention im not willing any more to give it.
