E:D Lore and backstory

Hi,

Another PS4 pre-order CMDR here chomping at the bit! :)

A quick question on lore, are things like the Empire/Federation relationships something you get any real context about in-game, or do people know most of this stuff from reading additional information around it?

I'm just debating whether I should be getting up to scratch on this over the next 6 days, or leaving it all until I start finding out things once I'm actually in the black. I literally don't know who is who and what is what at the moment [where is it]

have a read of the Galnet archive, or drew wagers lore page https://www.drewwagar.com/lore/elite-dangerous-lore/ those should help a bit

galatic politics is easy...

federation hate imperials, imperials hate everyone, the alliance are hippy love children. priates are classed as annoying, thargoids are the monster under the bed. everything else is gravy.

but seriously drew's lore page is the only official ED lore on the net so far, and he updates as often as he can between writing his book

If you enjoy reading scifi books, you may want to check out Drew Wager's Reclamation book. I personally enjoyed it greatly. It's an "official" Elite Dangerous book, so systems, ships, and even characters are all part of the lore. If nothing else, it will help you pass the next few days while waiting for Tuesday to arrive!
