E:D on Steam won't launch; E:D launcher is in "Play Demo" mode, but account is linked

I've already done a lot of work on this, and written to support twice (no response). I seem to have tried the common solutions, also.

I had the game installed for a long time, but hadn't played in a while (it had not been uninstalled since the last time I played). When I launched Horizons, I got that pop-up saying an update was required. I followed the instructions to force higher-priority updates, etc., but there was no update to be had anyway.

On the Launcher behind the "update required" pop-up, instead of a Play button, there is a REDEEM button.

One of the remedies is to launch just plain E:D, which gives me a PLAY DEMO button.

If I click "MY ACCOUNT" it does, indeed, log me into Frontier's site and show my account, and it shows that it is connected to Steam.
One of the suggestions was to unlink and re-link Steam, which I've been able to do several times without any problem, but also with no effect.

I have verified the game's files (several times-- no problems). I have also wholly uninstalled the game and re-installed it. No effect.

As it is right now, I can't play the game at all, except in Demo mode, support has not responded, and my patience is running out. I feel like anytime I don't play this game for a while, something is broken when I come back, even though I've changed nothing.

So, I know others have had this issue (or similar), but none of the solutions I've read about worked.
