Glad to see you adopted something I happened to suggest several months ago.... showing MY ship at the home screen including the paint job and kits selected. I trust that these things were already in the works and I just happened to suggest them. I also suggested that the store purchases and livery modifications should be available AT ALL TIMES. Perhaps that was also already in the works. I was "in the black" and unable to purchase one of the paint-jobs available during black Friday. That was sour.
A few things I have suggested in the past were missed so I have them below. I have added some new ideas.
1. It seems you added several bobble-heads and I missed it. I don't see it in "news" anywhere on the forums or in-game. Cactus, brain tree, etc. Where was this announced? If you have new items for me to buy with ARX why in the world aren't you letting your customer know new stuff has hit the store? At a MINIMUM it should be featured on the forums. I realize the store-front in-game features items from time to time... but there should be a "what is new" tab or something? Who is in charge of announcing new content?
2. You still don't show MY ship during load screens. It shows just a generic ship in orange wire-frame. This image should be customized in order to encourage the purchase of store items. I am assuming that this would not be a resource hog.... as there are a limited number of possible kit combinations. I would rather have you work on something else to add to the game... but it seems that this change change would increase in-game purchases. Should be added.
3. On the dashboard of my ship it shouldn't show a generic ship hologram. IT SHOULD BE MY SHIP including KITS. If it doesn't show my paint job, fine. But shouldn't it be my ship in miniature? including paint job? Perhaps this is a "system resource hog" so fine, perhaps it can't be done. I would rather have space legs, buildings, or something else. But it seems odd that you have another opportunity for buyers to see their purchased items and you don't show it to them. Showing a player his own purchases during 100% of the time playing should encourage NEW purchases.
4. There should be banging and pinging sounds when not in supercruise.... especially when mining or otherwise in an asteroid field. Ear candy please. There should be debris hitting and banging off of my hull constantly, especially when mining.
5. Where in the world are the community goals? I don't know the popularity of open vs. solo but certainly solo players get some kind of enjoyment from something that involves the community. The lack of community goals pre-dates the patch and ARX problems so that isn't a valid excuse pre-patch. I can understand turning off CGs until the ARX issues have been resolved... but this is a step back in gameplay. Where are the CGs? More than 30 days gone? Not good.
6. I haven't calculated the CG success rate in many months... but a few months ago I did a review of community goals and something like 95% of them "did not complete" the last tier. MANY had VERY POOR performance rates. Isn't there someone inside of Frontier that is in-charge of these? Having no CGs is daft... but there is an even bigger issue. NOT having the majority of CGs complete is just sloppy. New players get frustrated because they take part of what on some level must seem like a failure. Frontier should know what levels are attainable and design CGs that result in a higher success rate. Someone needs to get on the job here and become more effective at setting tier levels.
7. The auto-undock and supercruise travel have been GENIUS for helping to generate ARX sales. I find that I actually spend that time in camera mode to look at my ship OR use the supercruise time to check out store items.
8. I have begun to use the Galnet article playback on a consistent basis. This is great, but it needs more content. I assume this is work that is already in process.
The game hits a really great spot for me. I have little desire to play PvP. I only occasionally seek out combat in PvE. ED provides me access to an excellent casual and relaxed play-style... so thanks for that. Because of this none of my suggestions tie to PvE. Perhaps others can provide revenue generating suggestions for more intense play-styles.
