Eagle - not happy with it

I bought an Eagle (yesterday) and now I am (or seem to be) stuck in a small (5 systems) sector of space because it can not jump very far. Also all the cargo missions I was getting prior have gone away and I only get combat missions. I suck at dog fighting.

What should I do? restart? damn all that hard work. I cant own 2 ships yet , correct? Can I sell my eagle back and get the old ship?

Ditch your weapons, any cargo and anything else you can ditch and see if you can make it out then. The more your ship weighs the shorter its jump range.

I also got a eagle and got stuck in some systems and couldn't trade or buy another ship at any of the ports, I self destructed it and went back to a free sidewinder.

So I stripped the weapons off and use it to run missions and pick up stray cargo.. in about 6 hours I made $50g so I guess it works for me ..in a way.

The Eagle is a fast, powerful but somewhat fragile short range fighter. It should never be able to have the range of a dedicated long-range trading ships like the Lakons, or even the multi-purpose ships like the Cobra

I expect you'll be able to upgrade the engines at some point at the expense of cargo space or something to get a bit more range, but that will probably affect the manoeuvrability (hopefully)

Eagle shields are just as bad as sidewinder ones. Fighting AI eagles feels just like fighting AI sidewinders because of how easy they are to explode.
