Eagle / Sidewinder swarms

Hi,
About two hours into my new Python after upgrading from my trusty Vulture, so I'm still getting to grips with handling etc.
.
Dropped into a High Res, got a "bad" one, poodled around for a bit and then got swarmed by a succession of Eagle / Sidewinder wings, probably a continuous stream of 12 (ships not wings) or so, was hard to keep count got pretty hectic, had 6 ships targeting me at one point. Quite chuffed that I managed to down them all, though obviously didn't earn much Cr. Going to have to get to grips with FA Off to swat the flys, not easiest thing to learn in the heat of the moment....
.
Just wondering if anyone knows what triggered this, I was carrying about 5T of cargo, not sure if that made a difference. Did High Res behaviour change in one of the recent patches? Never had this kind of intensity in my Vulture.
.
First time in the system so I don't think I was hostile with a faction as this was only my second pass through the RES.
.
Not complaining just curious if anyone knows what the mechanic might of been that triggered this?
Cheers.

I have noticed carrying cargo does attract pirates as do certain ships. Devs have stated that the number and type of weapons carried affects interdiction rates so I find it easy to imagine that the module quality and loadout would affect the enemies.

Sounds like you had an interesting battle even if Elite did throw a bit of a curve ball at you. Those smaller ships can be quite the challenge in numbers :)
