Eagle to Beagle

On July 18th 3305 Cmdr 13D launched from LeConte Dock in Ra, piloting his Eagle Mk II "The Seventh Veil"

7 months later, he emerged from Witchspace at Beagle point, his once pristine white Eagle, now looking decidedly tatty.

After taking the traditional 'I was here' selfie, he headed out into the black again and made his way to Ishum's Reach to stake his claim as the first Eagle to visit.

Now I just have to fly back o_O

The Seventh Veil

A few stats:

Jumps - 1,778

Distance travelled - 71,848 Ly

Hull damage - 0%

You are a braver man than I good sir! Congrats, that’s a hell of an achievement in that little bird! Currently heading there myself although in a round about way. I’ll wave if I see you. Good luck and safe travels CMDR! o7

I envy and salute you commander! That inspires me to drop 32T fuel tank to smaller one to squeeze more jump range out of ship. :)
I always wandered what's the minimum fuel tank can be used to roam the stars unless going to sparse areas on the fringes of courses. I guess the answer is can be done with as little as 6T tank based on your Eagle build.

The problem with lowering tank size is that it limits your number of jumps. On my larger explorers I keep the full size tank but only half fill it if I want a slightly longer jump.

In the Eagle with just the normal tank I only had 2 full jumps, so I added the extra tank in case I hit a run of non-scoopables in the abyss.

I prefer exploring in small ships and the Eagle has a nice view from the cockpit. It's also pretty agile in supercruise.
I built an Eagle specifically for exploring the Bubble (I like searching for and finding my own generation ships), so it's got good jump range and a very fast (480 / 700ish) speed for planet skimming. It's the traditional Eagle, as I don't like the extra bright cockpit and really funky landing gear of the iEagle, LOL.

Nicely done. I was very tempted to switch to an Eagle for exploration as well, since it's one of the nicer ships for VR, IMHO. I just couldn't bring myself to stick to it though. :D
