Newcomer / Intro Eagle vs. Anaconda from someone who was completely green a week ago

Not many full-length videos out there so...here's how it's done.

Great job.
Here is some advice that can be handy when you deal with bigger targets.

Target the sub systems of the ship.
What i tend to do is target the drive to stop him from jumping and make him a easy target practice.
And then target the Power plant or the FSD. (you can target these from the start)
If you do it this way the target will have atleast 30% HP left but he will blow up and you get the kill.

Impressive.

How did you get your shields to recharge at the 3.20ish mark - it looked like your shields were completely gone and I didn't see you select a shield cell?

Great job.

How do you target the subsystems?

You can bind a key to use a Shield Cell (which I highly recommend) and you can bind keys to cycle thru the sub-systems (which I highly recommend), I use , and .

You can target the subsystem in one of the menus but that's not something you want to be doing mid-combat.

For smaller targets I take out their FSD so they can't get away and I target the Power Plant for Anacondas which leaves them dead in the water (they also seem to have a chance to explode out-right if the plant is taken out.)

Hi noob here how do you target individual sub systems?

On the "left" menu (button 1 default) one of the tabs is sub systems - select from there.

I'm intrigued about having a cycle option though as ive used menu route and am quite quick at it. I'll investigate now.

Key binding for use shield cell most likely by the way it sounds.

Regarding the subsystems, they're a great way to take down a big ship. So far I've had 100% chances that the power plant causes catastrophic chain explosions leading to the destruction of the ship, even with a lot of hull left, as in here: http://i.imgur.com/Iszaf9A.jpg?1. I've also tested the FSD once after I read on the forums that it causes the ships to behave strangely before exploding and the results were satisfactory. I usually go for the power plant but the FSD might become a better option as I've just lost an assassination target due to the bloody thing jumping out of system.

I find the boom and zoom strategy works best for this... I took an Anaconda myself last night in an eagle... gotta get in under their nose, strafe and go to boost in their wake to avoid the guns... made it out with no shields and 21% health, but survived :D 44k bounty is rather worth it :D

It depends. Took down another conda yesterday and that one was a LOT harder. It apparently had a better thruster, and somehow it managed to out-turn me and keep me in its sight all the time while completely ignoring the NPC security ships. I ended up using up all my cannonballs and most of my chaff while doing hit-and-runs. Boy that was painful

If its focusing on me, i run off a fair distance and it usually loses interest... then come back and plink from a distance. But if its set its eyes on me i worry!

I'm sorry but this is bull.

5 Minutes ago I had to rage quit. I stopped off at a random USS on my way to a station to turn in my 60k worth of bounties. Anaconda was there waiting, Elite, Wanted. As soon as I done a basic discovery scan the NPC said "You're mine now", and a single beam of red light took my shields down, while a second beam of light destroyed my ship.

This exchange took less than 3 seconds of dropping out of SC.

I didnt even have the time to deploy hardpoints. Heck, I didnt even have the time to dodge anything, I just got annihilated for no damn reason, before I could even say What The Hell.

In case you don't know, Anaconda is the only playable ship so far with a Class 4 hardpoint, which means some NPC 'condas may come with a giant Plasma Cannon that could destroy - not drain, DESTROY - the shield of a smaller vessel in one shot, and paralyzing the ship at the same time. Luckily that thing comes in fixed mounts only.

When I deployed my weapon in the video you see one of my system is brought off line because it went beyond my reactor's capacity. That's the Auto Field-Repair Unit. I have it just in case that if I got hit by a 'conda's Plasma Cannon and somehow did not die in the following few seconds, I could repair my shield right there and make a comeback.

Most 'conda pirates are nuts and will open fire on sight. This one is somehow kind enough to wait till I find a good angle.

I didn't know at all, everytime I even see the word Anaconda I try my best to Jump back into SC.

There is literally no way to win against one right now, unless you get lucky with "gentle" pirates I guess :)
