early backer (20£) : how to get standard beta, full game and exp pass ?

Hi,

In the backer reward dashboard I can see:
Total Backed: £20.00 Reward Credit: £0.00

In the STORE dashboard I can see:
10/12/2013 £30.00 Processing Pre-Order View Order | Reorder

(why 30 ?)

I've read many things but can't find what should I do to now to get:
- standard beta (starting from 29Jul)
- full game (is it included in standard beta ? "A download copy of the released game!" seems ambiguous to me !)
- expansion pass

Many thanks

#1 First thing, price difference is due of having no 20 gbp option in a shop, as it was KS exclusive. It's better for you, all your upgrades will be much cheaper;
#2 So you can upgrade to premium beta, but I am not fully sure you can update to normal beta yet. Process is like this - you log in in shop, and choose normal beta (for example) and go till checkout stage. If checkout stage don't show you a discount, then contact shop via email or support form. Beware I am not fully sure you can upgrade to normal beta just yet, that might come next week (15th July);
#3 Expansion pass is sold separately, or you can upgrade to premium beta and get it additionally. However premium beta is expensive and it will long for a little bit more than two weeks so I suggest normal beta plus expansion pass;

Your options are pay £20 to upgrade to Standard beta/full game and pay £35 for the expansion pass or you can pay £80 for Premium Beta, Standard beta, expansion pass and full game.

Essentially, it boils down to this.

1. You want to play multiplayer today. You get the premium beta package, pay 80£ and get

access to premium beta, standard beta, gamma, retail.
all future expansions for free.

2. You want to play the single scenarios today, and multiplayer on July 29th. You get the standard beta package, pay 30£, pay 35£ for the expansion pass and get

access to single player now, standard beta, gamma, retail.
all future expansions for free.

As far as I know you cannot officially upgrade from normal to beta YET (only to Premium Beta).

Can I upgrade my purchase to receive access to the Standard Beta phase of Elite: Dangerous?

We do not currently support upgrades to the Standard Beta version of the game. However this is something that we may explore in the future.

You might try contacting support to see what they can do or else you can only wait (I really think they will offer an upgrade path after the 29th, but your guess is as good as mine) or upgrade to premium beta (which includes the expansion pass).

If in the store order form he already sees 30£ instead of 50£ for the standard beta, that means his original pledge is already subtracted and he can upgrade, no?

He's right. FD have to offer the ability to upgrade before you can upgrade.
They did it for Alpha and Beta so should do the same for Standard beta closer to release.

I think he sees standard beta as 50£. If the discount was applied it would be 20£ (50£ minus the price of the normal game which is valued at 30£).

However do note I'm seeing prices in euro so not sure if my prices are correct :)

If that's true than his options are:
1. You want to play multiplayer today. You get the premium beta package, pay 80£ and get access to premium beta, standard beta, gamma, retail. All future expansions for free.

2. You don't mind waiting, but would like the lifetime expansion pack: You get the expansion pass and pay 35£ and play the game later this year.

3. (not really an option..more expensive) You want to play the single scenarios today, and multiplayer on July 29th. You get the standard beta package, pay 50£, pay 35£ for the expansion pass and get access to single player now, standard beta, gamma, retail. All future expansions for free.

In that case I would say:
-Upgrade to premium beta OR
-Wait for a possible upgrade path BUT decide before july 29th because they won't sell the expansion pack anymore after this date.

Now I think about it, the kickstarter price was 20£ but the store values the game as 30£. My GUESS is that when an upgrade path IS offered it will be after the 29th (you miss out on the expansion pack) and will PROBABLY use your pledge amount of 20£ for discount and not the 30£.

But he has backed for 20£. The normal game is going to cost 35£ at launch.

50-20=30£, what he currently sees in the order info screen.

I think he sees 30£ as the value for the product he currently owns (the retail game). ** I might be wrong... or maybe I'm just not understanding what you mean :) **

Discount will be applied to the price he sees in shop, I don't think FD will look after those few thousand people who got ED for very cheap - just 20 bgps - very early in KS campaign. So yeah, he will pay less for upgrade.

I have heard people getting manual upgrades to normal beta when contacting shop. I guess it's doable, but more official way will come in next week 15th July.

You're right, this is getting way too difficult :)

My advice would also be:
- Contact support and tell them you would like to upgrade to beta + expansion pass. They might be able to help you out.
- If that fails: you could wait if an official upgrade path will be provided. Whatever you do, make sure to decide before july 29th.

You're correct.

When details were transferred from the kickstarter site to the Frontier store, all pledges less than £30 that included a copy of the game were promoted to £30 value in order to simplify the admin.

It happened to me this way. I originally pledged £25 but my Elite: Dangerous pre-order is listed as being worth £30.

I also bought the expansion pass for £35 prior to upgrading to premium beta.

When I finally decided to upgrade to premium beta, I was expecting it to cost £40 or £45, depending on which pre-order value was being taken into account. However, I was charged only £30. I have no idea why, but I certainly didn't complain. ;)

Which is obviously awesome for those involved.

If their pledge level included a digital copy of the game. I know someone who pledged at £15 not realising that that tier did not include a digital copy.

When he recently spoke to store support about an upgrade he was told he would get no discount and if he wanted to upgrade to Standard Beta he would have to pay the full £50.

So for the sake of £5 he loses some £25 in comparative value and now someone who was ready and willing to give Frontier more money is cursing the whole episode and vowing never to have anything to do with them again.

Which is unfortunate.

I seriously hope that Frontier are planning to look at this sort of anomaly again come the 15th.

Sorry, but this sound like guy's own fault :( It was quite clearly stated during KS what pledge rewards are. 20 BGP version had limited slots, and then there was 25 BGP version too. 15 BGP never got him a game, and that upgrade chance was removed in December last year, after a *year* of offering this chance.
