Earning ARX?

From a number of threads that have been read I was under the impression that ARX earned was based on Credits. One guy posted that he'd calc'd it out and it worked out to around 1 ARX per million sold (for me it's about 1 ARX per 100K). Some threads implied you didn't earn ARX for exploration until you sold it.

Neither seems to be true.

My experience during my last play session was Psx Credits earned ~5M. Trading credits earned ~10M. Time online - a couple of hours or so. ARX earned 5. 1 for other and 4 for exploration.

I didn't turn in a single thing on exploration. All I did was press the scan button on every system I entered during passenger missions. So much for having to sell exploration data to earn ARX exploring.

I'm guessing that Other was the trading I did.

So now I'm even more confused about earning ARX than before.

Has FD published any detail on exactly how to earn ARX (link if so...) or are they leaving it up to us to learn on our own with the tried and true, pain in the rear, TRIAL & ERROR method?

No, and they prolly never will to avoid arx meta gaming.

There's already a thread on this topic:

heres some anecdotal testing;

all tests start at Jameson memorial for purposes of some form of science.

Mining

1hour collecting void opals, which involved a 5 minute commute to the local VO hotspot, now there are some variables here i.e RNG on cores spawning and the cores not being bromelite (which is usual in a VO hotspot) and this session was mediocre not horrendous but not great either.

56T of Void opals were gathered in the alloted time and sold for maximum Cr at exactly 58mins from leaving jameson.

Result = 12Arx

Combat V1

This could be split down into PVP and Thargoids im sure, but for test #1 i took a Krait with standard crappy turret pulse lasers and tickled ships in a RES site while the police sorted them out and harvested their innards for engineering with collectors.

i.e i didnt even kill anything or even inflict any damage i just made sure the turreted pulse lasers were tickling the enermy while the NPCs killed them so i was credited with the kill, i didnt even fly off i just sat station with 4 pips in SYS and shield tanked it while my army of collectors buzzed about happily.

Total time 59min 45seconds back at jameson cashing in bounties.

Result = 34 ARX

Combat V2

Dolphin with rails in a HAZ res site, actually working my ARX off to kill stuff for best part of an hour with an element of skill required to take down 1x ASPX 1x Eagle and 1x Clipper (all Elite NPCs) in a Dolphin.
An hour later i cashed in bounties and logged out

Result = 3 ARX

so its not based on skill ^^ and "just playing the game" isnt the most productive if thats what your after... i mean 24pence i wont be grinding it but hey its free.

Not true at all. Mining earns zero arx atm. BH you get at least one per kill. It's transactional in nature but the rate and which transactions are a mystery.
Actually that formula:
arx=Int(6 * RND)
gives number in range 0-5

it's a joke, you know, because experiences vary greatly from player to player. And who knows, maybe there is some randomization of some kind there.

Nevertheless in my opinion current system is seriously flawed, as it actually encourages exploits and instead of awarding ARX for "just playing the game, doing whatever you did before", it promotes certain activities, while you'll get crap for playing in some other ways.

I know it's hard thing to balance and simply going with system based on time spent in game wouldn't work either - although it would be probably better than it is now. But whatever.

It's an intriguing thought, but no ARX for mining, puts the damper on commanders concentrating on mining for massive credits for the anticipated Fleet Carriers.

It's how FD now
controls the gameplay - want to boost engineering and materials swapping? Boost the ARX.

Players, it seems, are
easily manipulated.
