That'll cut off a few jumps to Sagittarius A*!

I've said it before, and will say it again: Frontier, or at the very least Mr. Braben, are Thargoids.Given the ED map puts it at 25.9kly Frontier were spookily ahead of the science there...

In 2012?well, they could have read it off the wikipedia, which reported an estimate of 26kly.
In 2012?
So, FDEV went on with the greater consensus from the beginning, there were some newer observations that implied bigger distance and now most recent observations brought the estimate back to previous level.since 22:14, 5 February 2007, it appears: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sagittarius_A*&diff=next&oldid=102720955
note i'm quite ignorant in astronomy, but it would seem from this that the stated previous estimate of 27.7kly didn't have much consensus.
And no reason for cheap digs at FDEV or people who still like the game.
