Ease up on the forum security a bit.

I usually prefer the company forums over Steam, but for a game as popular as PC these forums are pretty much dead.

I'm guessing the current state is an overreaction to some DOS or spam attack in the past. And I understand there will always be some sort of trade off between security and usability, but ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎, my bank is easier to use than these forums.

I assume at some point I wont need to have every single post individually green lit and also complete a CAPTCHA, but if that's not the case that could go a long ways to explaining why these forums don't get used much.

Welcome to the Planet Coaster forums!

The security features of this forum are not the reason why the forums are not used as much as they used to be.

The moderated posts feature probably only lasts a few posts anyway - if you're getting a lot of CAPTCHAs though then I'd suggest checking your system's settings (particularly the cookies side).

If you keep participating you won't have to deal with the moderation thing. It's just for noobs.

I've never seen some (re)CAPTCHA at all when I make a post. ;) I'm also active every now and then.

It looks like the CAPTCHA requirements went away when my account was green lit. I might have made it worse because I'm the same way with 3rd party cookies as the forums are with new accounts, guilty until proven innocent. But it was pretty crazy, had to CAPTCHA to use search, post, pretty much everything except look at a post.

I'm still of the opinion that if goal is to build a vibrant community having to wait hours for posts to clear just pushes people elsewhere.

These forums require at least 3 to 5 posts made to be able to bypass the reCaptcha and anti-spam checks. Unfortunately, we have a lot of spam posted on this forum - nearly all of it never sees the light of day (except the moderators seeing it).

There's three checks that happens on our forums:

1) Registration Check (is your IP or email blacklisted (StopForumSpam)?)
2) New Thread/Post akismet and recaptcha checks.
3) New Thread/Post regex and hot-word checks.

The 3rd one is generally what trips the posts into awaiting moderation land.

It's unfortunate, but spammers love the planet coaster forums and the main Frontier forums. [knockout]

no CAPTCHA on MY end. Not sure what you consider a busy forum. If people don’t have questions thats actually a good thing. Shows that people understand the game.

This is not busy compared to when the game was new, and there are certainly much much busier forums for other games, but its not specifically a matter of just having questions, people can enjoy the game and come here to just chat for a multitude of reasons, but unfortunately PlanCo has not caught much steam in terms of community in the passed 12 months, and thats not really a good thing for a game like this which does have a heavy reliance on the community

I don't know, it seems to be simmering away nicely IMHO. The community is probably busy making stuff in game more than chatting on forums. In the early days, this forum helped PC become what it is, so there was more discussions and activity.

Besides, there's Steam, reddit, youtube, this forum, other places such as Facebook, Twitch and other forums. This is what you want, a distributed community network more than centralized hub. It's better for everyone to spread it around.

Don't forget that this forum archives all discussions, many people wouldn't need to post about something if they use search and discover it's been covered multiple times. This is true of seeking help, and suggestions.

The Planet Coaster community is still fairly active, it's just that for various reasons the forums aren't the main hub.

I would say that for a game that is over 1.5 years (over 2 years if you count start of alpha) it is very active across all platforms, not just the forums.
