Easiest ways to find Power Combat Zones for my Power?

Probably the map filters.
In the first powerplay screen, set the map filter to only show Contested systems (double circle, crossed swords).
Then look for ones near your space, and see if your Power shows up on the progress bars.
If it does, you should find Power CZs involving your Power in that system

I myself kept bumping into the usual CZ in such systems. It occurred to me that maybe we should scan all CZ through the FSS?
I've found several for LYR. The problem is that they are bugged and no ships ever spawn in them.
The LYR ships probably all jumped away to go exploring.
This was the solution. You're right, trying to find them on the galaxy map with the filter is nigh impossible.
Still was tricky. First system had no power conflict zones, second had, but none for my power, third time was the charm.
And i visited 4 combat zones, and none had ships spawning... GG FD.
Seems pretty reliable to me - as with any filter mode which only shows a few systems total you have to watch your zoom levels a bit, but it all works as it should:
Set the filter to my Power and Contested only ... and the only system which shows up on the map is the (sole) one my Power is contesting this cycle.
Switch the filter over to Torval, and it shows the Contested ones in range of Torval's systems instead (even the ones where Torval is in 3rd place or worse and therefore doesn't show up on my view of the progress bars)
Can be useful to turn on Fortified+Stronghold too so that you can keep track of where the bulk of your friendly space is
Them actually working when you get there is certainly more a matter of luck, unfortunately.
I did exactly that and spent a good 5 mins scrolling the galaxy map all around the edges of my power's space. In the end, just gave up, look on Inara, typed in a system name, and voila!
I've checked dozens of power conflict zones in several different systems. Not a single one of them ever spawned any ships. It's just broken.......which really shouldn't surprise anyone who's been playing the game for a while.
Same. This has been extremely annoying. I miss winging up with friends and fighting the thargoids, but since Power Combat Zones don't work in multiplayer or Open, there has been no reason to even log on. This needs to be a priority fix.
Update: It seems Fdev pushed the magic button. I found three power CZs tonight that were working.
Bad news: you get no merits for killing enemy ships in a CZ unless YOUR power is involved in that conflict.
Not a viable merit farm. When I found a working LYR vs Antal CZ I was getting no more merits per ship than I did for pirates and the ships in CZs are (as always) really spongy.
Edit: After taking an hour long break and logging back in, the CZs no longer spawn ships anymore. Jumping up and dropping back in didn't work and neither did menu logging to reset the instance. Dunno.....just broken atm.

Its all a bit random. You just got a good run. I found they started spawning reliably for me after a while.
However, as you note, I find it easier just to camp in a Haz Res for merits. Good bounty money combined with good merit gain.
