17 Draconis is dead, has been for a while.
Nui Hsing is your best option right now, but it still requires work.

FD is getting pretty good about killing any site that allow easy ranking.

Your other option is Sol, once you get the permit. Every station is pure Federation, so every mission taken is giving rank, but it is also work.

Sheer volume. If mission stacking, just grab loads of data delivery. If board-hopping isn't your thing, then split your ship space between economy passenger missions and cargo, so you can take a combination of data, cargo and bulk passenger delivery. Best done in certain sets of systems that spawn missions only between each other, for speed. But it will bore you to tears...

FD have said combat missions are taken most seriously with regard to rank.

If you want a Corvette, I would say to put your face to the grindstone and get it, before they change how those ships are obtained. With all of the (foolish) clamoring for the equivalent of dungeon/raid content, you might find some time down the road that the Cutter and Corvette are no longer obtainable Solo. They might also nerf the crap out of the faster ways of reaching the higher ranks, too.

There have been no indications of such changes yet, other than vague mentions here and there about revisiting the Ranking systems in the future, and some nerfs to certain systems that have already occurred.

I have the cash and long ago earned sufficient rank to buy a Corvette, but chose not to.

Instead I fly a hyper-specced Sidewinder. My favourite ship in the game when all's said and done (no, not kidding).

I have one other ship - a G5 engineered FAS which I bought after selling the Python. But that's in Eranin and I'm having too much fun down in Maia with my Sidey.

Sorry OP, I know I'm not helping.

Except maybe to ask, do you really need that Corvette? Is it worth the grind?

You have obviously never flown a Corvette with DD5s... It sure isn't a brick! You'd be surprised to learn that it is more nimble than a Python!
