Horizons Eclipses and planetside 'artificial lighting'

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but I just discovered that when you are on (or near) a planet surface when it is in the umbra of an eclipse, the usual artificial lightening that normally happens on the dark side of planets, does not kick in. It was kind of nice exploring in such darkeness. Even went into a large base that was spectacular in the dark, but unfortunately the base defenses surprised me and knocked my ship out before I got pics of it. But I did get some nice pics of the dark landscape . . .

It happened suddenly. I was flying on the light side of a moon when it almost instantly turned pitch dark. I was confused at first because I was't anywhere near the dark side.

What looks like mist in the distance, but is probably dust as there is no atmosphere, appeared to be emanating from a canyon. I've never seen that in normal lighting conditions, but it looked ghostly in the dark.

Flying had to be cautious as I could not see the mountains very well.

For comparison purposes, this is the same moon under "normal" lighting. This is actual in the twilight zone between day and night sides. You can see just a hint of the haze hanging over the canyon.

Cool. Light enhancement can make navigation much easier but proper shadows and lighting are much more immersive and atmospheric.

I find that if you land on the terminator (and I do whenever possible), so that there are lighted areas, the shadowed areas remain dark. I also find the game will sometimes momentarily render the landscape dark like it should be, but will then reset when you change your view.

Common Sense should be applied here, Called OPTION.
For those of us who would rather SEE than go splat, turn Night Vision ON.

For those of us who would rather NOT SEE and Feel the Excitement of Maybe going Splat,
in order to Heighten their immersive and atmospheric Fix, turn Night Vision OFF.

OPTION 3, Have a Toggle Button so that we can Have Our Cake and Eat It Too [yesnod]

for a while now I wished they would do this normally but after seeing these pictures, they need to do this, this is so cool! even if it is just an option. its so cool

I like the dark! More atmospheric and even a bit spooky. Hope this becomes the norm once the lighting has been overhauled.
