ECM 2025 - The "Elite Community Meet" - 16th August, Coventry, UK

We're moving venue - This year we're coming to the Midlands and holding the event at the Village Hotel, Coventry.

We have MORE SPACE, the hotel rooms (if you want to stay over) are over 30% cheaper than 2024.

For those that haven’t been to an ECM before – “What is it?”

The 2024 Gallery! - take a look at last year for a flavour of things.

It a non commercial event run by us, the community, to have a place to get together and share company, gaming, a bite to eat and a drink with fellow gamers.

It’s NOT a “programmme driven” event with formal panels, talks etc from a stage, NOR is it cluttered with stalls from commercial sponsors.

Whilst it began with Elite, & friends getting together from the Elite Dangerous playing community – over the years it just celebrates our hobbies in a wider sense.

Do I "NEED" to stay at the hotel?
Not at all - though if you are, the late evening shenanigans are good fun. We have a code with the hotel fixing prices for rooms.
Many of the regulars arrive on the Friday, help set up and then retire to the bar area for cards against humanity/board games/relaxation over a beer and a chat.

What is there to do?
Whilst those of us helping organise it bring a lot – it REALLY hinges on you. If you’ve got a game you want to play, consider hosting it, whether that’s a board/card game, something on your computer or anything else.

  • As always there will be some multiplayer gaming courtesy of our retro area – things like manic games of MarioKart, Gangbeasts (always a laugh) for 4 players at a time on a shared screen.
  • Our retro area is CHOC full of BBC Micro, Spectrum, Amiga, Atari classics. There’s an upright arcade machine for a bit of Streetfighter, Pacman and all that jazz.
  • Racing rigs set up for 4+ people to race against each other
  • This year for the FIRST TIME, we're adding in a VR Escape Room courtesy of one of our sponsors
  • We have a dedicated space for a bit of Oculus Quest VR
  • Of COURSE we have Elite running on just about everything it can run on
  • There will be a number of people with Streamdecks doing a little PvP
  • There's a LEGO table with an event challenge to build one of the BIG raffle prizes before the raffle is drawn
  • A Level-UP and Battlecards from Spidermind Games (option on ED:RPG if someone's up for GM-ming a game)
  • 3d Printers churning out goodies for the raffle
  • ARTEMIS team simulator for groups of people to challenge themselves to run a startship as a team

And of course, it’s traditional for us to have a Hutton Orbital Live and Dockers live recording in the evening – often featuring guest presenters.

We like organising a quiz in the afternoon – something to do after lunch.

To help commanders break the ice there will be many other social games to try. These will include modern card and board games for you to enjoy. Or if you wish you can just sit and chat with other commanders over lunch or a beer.

You are also encouraged to bring your own PC kit should you want to demo hardware or games. Also if you have a board/card game you’d love to play please do bring them along.



As always we are supporting our two chosen charities at this event Special Effect and Hearing Dogs. Any surplus funds following the event will be divided up and donated to these two charities. Check out our Chosen Charities Page for more information on, and links to, these charities.

What does it cost?
Everyone "chucks in the tin" for the costs, and ANY excess is split 50:50 between our two chosen charities - SpecialEffect and Hearing Dogs

£12.50 to get a ticket and NOT GET FED AT ALL (if you're bringing a packed lunch or want to pop out for a dirty burger during the day)
or
£30 for a ticket including lunch
or
£60 if you want to join in the dinner in the evening AND have lunch

Rooms at the Village Hotel are £85/night for single occupancy including breakfast - £95 for a double/twin occupancy - family rooms are available if needed.
If you can get it cheaper through deals, points, a vast stock of ARX or super booking prepay without breakfast rates then please - choose what suits YOU!

Are there panels/dev content etc?
No. Whilst Frontier have ALWAYS attended (and we understand will be joining us once again this year) - they're there as PART of the community - to join in, play games and socialise like the rest of us are.

I can't get there and want to take part!
We're hoping, as we did in 2020, to run a vECM - or at the very least a live stream from parts of the event. Certainly there will be some parallel shenanigans organised both in game, and in other games

Just to let you all know, I will be bringing the Elite: Minitures game up. We have new Ships, New Manouvers for existing ships and a Prize. I have devised a points system, the player with the highest points will receive a brand new Chieftain Model (Hopefully), complete with ship card, Manoeuvre cards, tokens and once the winner is established, I'll create them a Named Dangerous Ranked Pilot Card.

Well..if there are any commanders down in Cornwall who want a coffee... I'm making an extended road trip down to collect a stack of equipment for Artemis today and probably need a caffeine hit at some point!

Yet more shenanigans getting sorted for the event over the last two weeks.
  • NEW touch screen Artemis Cosmos rigs obtained, configured and extensively tested over last weekend,
  • 2 more retro VR rigs from "back in the day" obtained,
  • Lego final pieces have been delivered for the big build,
  • Frontier guests confirmed (the WHO bit is top secret),
  • Something cool to show from the stage (a talk and a presentation... thanks to @millstonebarn for liaising on this one),
  • Beatsaber custom map challenge from Vulkarius,
  • The racing rigs for multiplayer racing,
  • Arcade software has been updated,
  • NEW quiz software that can interact with not only the ROOM, but also people out there in "internet land" - tested extensively over last few months on the Hutton LIVE show,
  • A new gaming console or two,
  • 4x extra computers for main room with some "retro" editions of Worms Armageddon etc,
  • 4x extra computers for main room with "Pulsar"
 
This is the FINAL CALL for anyone wanting to book tickets for 2025...

As of Wednesday next week we're cutting off any bookings with food as we need to inform chef.

Hotel is now FULL but there are plenty of choices within a short walk of where we are.
