It a tool to convert target location (LL) into bearing to make easier navigation on planetary bodies.

i like the wirring noises of this one but, really??
why not just keep an eye on your hud and use your brains, it will be always easier and quicker than installing and running yet another crutch process or fiddling with web forms ...

I know this pic but it'd need explanation. I just flew until the numbers matched to where my target was. I just observed rate of change to determine due E-W and N-S course. Not efficient but works... or simply ..
So let's say you're current coordinates are:
13.42
47.19
And you're trying to get to:
8.26
57.53
So you want Lat to go down and Lon to go up so you need a heading in that bottom right quadrant, somewhere between 90° and 180°.

Never really "approved" of that image.
Trouble is that, for somebody who struggles with following bearings, it's a bit baffling.
Conversely, once you gain some idea of how to do it, you'll (eventually) realise that you can adjust two bearings at once, anyway, and thus end up doing what the image suggests.
I printed out that image and stuck it on the edge of my monitor pre-3.3, finding all of those 'tip-offs' and interesting things (Dav's, INRA Bases, etc) published on the forum with bearings - simple is good.. or simply ..
You can also use E.D.I.S.O.N. which will give you a "pop-up" on your HUD in-Game.

Oh Jesus, how come I didn't find out about this already? It's a Godsend.......for those of us who have trouble with the "brain" thing.
Ok but. did not the FSS and DSS make all this point less... As the probes highlight every single thing now to the nav panel...
This was the reason Fdev removed the need to learn it...
Fss scans planet and says Hold on what this... So then you fly to planet and probe it and then every single thing shows up on nav pannel...
