ED Community: Please help me! I die lots...:(

Hello all,

I thought I would post here for a little help. I just got my Clipper (pre-Engineers) and am now coming back to the game.

I am aligned in PP, (Li Yong-Rui, for the missiles...are they worth it?) and am hoping to build out my Clipper to be combat/smuggling/transport (in that order)

Now, here's my problem. I die. Like lots. So much so that I quit the game out of frustration, right after the Engineers dropped, and am just coming back now.

Of course, much of it lies with my skill set. I got fat on the old AI being easy, and now that they retaliate (with a heavy dose of interdict spam) I really really was not having fun.

However, I have picked myself back up, dusted off, and am preparing to git gud.

I wanted to ask for your assistance with my build out, as to be honest most of this makes only a little sense to me.

Here's my Loadout.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Again, in an ideal world: combat/smuggling/trade.

Now, as an aside, is there a good website for finding where improved components are? Like if you post "Get a 7A powerplant" Where do I find one? How can I filter my map? Is it really only as good as "large pop, high tech systems?" Or is there a website I can go to make travel suggestions to find the kit I need?

Thanks for your time and help here!

Both the INRA and EDDB sites have decent ways to locate the gear you want. I know you talked about the Clipper. And, it's a fine ship but, I was wondering if you wanted to do combat, or missions, or even both. I found the Clipper lacking. For all around and being combat ready on missions I recommend the Python(it can use medium pads). For combat activities I enjoy the FAS. Consider that getting in a different ship, with the post 2.0 AI, can be a blessing. If you can afford them.
