Hi guys, I'm back on ED to discover Horizon.
As said in the topic nam, I have an oculus rift dk2 with runtime 0.8.0.0. I've got a non-steam ED and the native resolution of my main screen is 1680x1050.
When I activate the Dk2, the best resolution ingame is 1680x1050 (60hz, 100hz or 120hz). How could I force ED to be launched in the hmd at the best resolution for my dk2 (1920x1080 @75hz)?

Nvidia drivers are updated, steamvr installed and I also created a custom resolution in nvidia control panel but I still can't play ED with a better resolution than my main screen's.
I'm worried about CV1 and runtime 1.0, I can't buy a new screen just because of it...

Thanks

What's your GPU?

One possible solution is to disable your main screen after enabling the DK2. You may then be able to set the appropriate resolution in the DK2.

It's a bit of a pain to do every time, and may not even work, but it's worth a try unless someone can suggest something better.

Asus gtx 980 strix, win 7 64b

I can't disable the main screen because since runtime 0.7.0.0, the dk2 isn't recognized as a screen.

Ah I see. The reason I asked is because I was wondering whether you had enough GPU memory to support 2 displays at the resolutions you need, but as you have a 980 I doubt you have that issue.

I use the 0.5 SDK in direct mode, so you could try downgrading to that. If it doesn't work in direct mode, then change to extended mode and set the resolution manually.

0.5 is the most recent officially supported SDK version. Other people have got the DK2 working with 0.7/0.8 by having SteamVR installed (there are threads on how they did it in this forum), so looking at those is another option.

If you figure out how to get 0.8 SDK working in direct mode on Win7 x64 without using any other software, post how you did it, because I'd like to know (and I'm sure there are plenty others, including FD :)).

That's what I did, I use steamvr and 0.8, it works but ingame I can't choose a resolution higher than my screen's one (1680x1050). I thought 0.8 was supported by Elite, so I'll downgrade 0.5 till 1.0 will be released (hoping this problem will be resolved ^^)

Same issue here. I couldn't give the steam VR / O.8 combo a try because i didn't find the DK2 resolution in game.

I had an answer from Oculus forum, I hope it will help ^^

The resolution you see in the options menu is unrelated to DK2 resolution.

Elite, additionally to rendering to a DK2, draws to a window as well. The resolution in the settings menu is the resolution of this preview inside the window.

So far, the only thing which is related to your screen is the refresh rate (which needs to be fixed, but this is an another topic...). Just set your screen to a resolution, which supports 75Hz refresh rate and you are good to go (personally I play on 1024x768, because it is the lowest resolution supporting 75Hz on my screen).

For DK2 simply set it to HMD Headphones or Speakers pay no attention to the resolutions as that has nothing to do with the HMD. If you are not getting that option I had the same problem and found I had missed a step when loading Steam. There is a Steam VR in there and it shows Elite Horizons under it but that is not the app you need for it to be recognized. Go under Library-Tools-
you will see what looks like a list of games - go down to Steam VR and download. Next start you will see the light turn blue on your HMD and it will be an option in game. Hope that works for you.

Thanks, I've been racking my brain this morning how to fix those res... now too bad we can't turn off the mirror (assuming it is impacting performance).
