ED dk2 veteran here - Problem, Sidewinder cockpit in VR is most like a X Wing and my favorite!

Fellow VR peeps.

I have an ASP, t7,cobra,viper etc. Today I set up my dk2 in the training module for my girlfriends dad and it messed me up. I forgot how much I love the Sidewinders snug close quarters which makes me feel like I'm in an x wing in star wars in the death star trench run.... And I like it the most! Haha. Yeah the ASP window is cool... But the mood of the Sidewinder in VR is just so cool... Everything is close and right there to touch.

Anyone else know what I mean here? Flying in a t7 or Ana where you are n a chair in a huge room of a VR cockpit isn't, for me, as fun as feeling right up next to everything to touch and see like the Sidewinder is in VR! Man...

Completely agree. I take a sidewinder out on a regular basis because I love that little ship and I love the cockpit. Would love to see a military version with a touch more resilience.

If you want an XWing, try the Eagle in VR if you didn't do it yet. Saying that, I never tried the Sidewinder in VR as I got my DK2 after jumping in the Adder (and currently in a Cobra).

I was testing out the control scheme on a new joystick and didn't want to risk blowing up a 500k rebuy Vulture when I don't have much money atm, so I bought a bone stock Sidewinder and went out to a resource extraction site. The Sidewinder is a special little ship, it was every bit as much fun to fly it as it is to fly my 1.6 million credit Eagle. I made 300k from shooting down pirates in that trip! Just one half hour visit!

Don't underestimate the tiny little cheap ships. They're short on generator power but they're small, fast, and hard to hit. If you upgraded to a bigger ship right away without really learning to fly first, you should definitely go buy a cheap little ship and play with it for a bit, you'll be surprised.

When I first got my rift, I did some of the training missions as I'm way out in the black with my ASP so wanted to experience docking etc in the rift and so it was the only way.
Anyway, in the sidewinder, I went outside the station and started to skim round it, getting as close as I could. This really made me feel like I was in the star wars trench, it was an amazing experience. I just kept going round and round in total awe. Try it, it's awesome.
When I get back to the bubble, I'll definitely be trying a lot of the other ships out now I have a rift. I totally agree the sidewinder is a great little ship.

id say eagle for sure, when you look out the window and see the wings it reminds me of star wars.
that + the agility woooo

100% agree. The Sidewinder cockpit is home. Always will be. Hate the Viper cockpit, it's too roomey for the type of ship it is. I'm in an Asp at the moment which is great for visibility but it's not a sidewinder.

I know them feels, bro. It's tatty, scuffed metal, it's intimate and fighter-like and it looks like real "stuff" that you could reach out and touch. It's the opposite of glowy bling Tron nightmares like the Imperial Clipper. The Lakon Type-* cockpits are pretty satisfying too, for a sense of solidity, even if they're less.. cosy.

However, I was travelling between systems in a disposable Sidey after playing in VR for a couple of weeks, and yes, the cockpit blew me away, too. It just works.

Agreed. The sidewinder is easily the best VR experience in the game. My favorite thing to do is over-heat the ship, and smoke comes out from all over the place in that model, not just the front dashboard aread.. it comes from the side walls and everything. Too bad there isn't really a use for the ship later game, other than a shuttle.
