ED doesn't like my Gladiator NXT anymore...

Greetings,

S0...not playing ED for long while I load up ED Horizons and find one of the local factions rating me as cordial where months ago I was allied with all factions. Maybe they are new and wasn't there before. The game moves on without me. It has been awhile waiting for Frontier to inspire me while I pay for a fleet carrier every week. OK. I load up an engineered Python trading ship, check my fire groups and find there is nothing there. I check other ships and they are all missing! Back to the Python I have beams and multi-cannons.

The NXT has multiple fire solutions per the main red fire button normal with the index finger and another black two-way toggle in front of the red button. I use the red for primary and the black for secondary. I checked them in Windows 7 and they work. I checked them in the ED bindings per primary and secondary and they were accepted. I go into the game and the fire groups won't accept the secondary.

The NXT red fire button has two settings per squeezing a little to binding one and all the way to binding two. ED Horizons options also accepts this. But in game I only get binding one with the beams and never binding two with the multi-cannons. Thus for now everything is set to binding one. It gets worse with all my scanners trying to program anything on a secondary input. Something has changed. Is it ED or me?

So not playing for awhile did I miss the memo from ED as to changes in controllers? Am I forgetting something not playing for awhile? Worse case how many of my other 36 ships especially the combat Corvette, Cutter, Anaconda and a Type-10 designed to leave in a zone and I go to sleep making credits. They all lost their fire groups and what else? Maybe some ED update messed this up so point me to the thread talking about it. Meanwhile off to upgrading a local faction from cordial to wondering if my bindings are working...

Sorry, I've been busy this year with Amateur Radio call sign KD6G making friends across the world. Then I came back to the game and wonder why it doesn't like my Gladiator NXT.

Regards

yep, one of the patches in between killed all firegroups.
the fix for it is to set them all up again for all ships. been there, done that

as for your other controller/reticule problem i have no idea.

I use both VKB Gunfighter III Kososima pros dual stick and VKB NXT Premium dual sticks. The setup is tricky bit does work. My NXTs are on the PC that I keeped logged into Horizons for rescues on that platform. I use the truggers on R+L sticks for Pri/sec fire, The overtrigger on the L stick for fire goups, anf the overtriggr on the R stick for Hyperspace/supercruise. No issues with setting those up.

I'm tninking that the issue is one of two things. A clash of bindings within the bind file (you said Horizons, so only one of those to be concerned about), or a alteration on the mappings within the stick itself (that stuff gets VERY complex and is difficult to understand). Maybe defaulting the stick might help?

As an example of what is possible (and the potential for mayhem!), with the VKB software it's possible to entirely remap how the sticks behave. For example, The grips are identical between my NXTs and GF3 sticks however the default button mapping exposed to the PC is different. I reeprogrammed my NXTs to match the GF3 mappings. Now I can port bind files betweren the 2 PCs just by running a couple of search/replaces to swap our device IDs.

I've seen some strange stick behaviour in Ody, but only with my (now decommissioned/good riddance) x-52 pro.
