I purchased the game on Frontier. However, after seeing that it downloads at 250k, I became frustrated and went to Steam to download, where it was acceptably fast at around 10 mbps. Completed the install, linked Steam to Frontier, tried to play, no luck. It starts to load, then goes back to the Play selection menu. Verified files, tried again, same thing. It appears I have to install ED in both Steam and Frontier. At 20 gigabytes per copy. And the 20 gigs downloading from Frontier, the maker of the game, is downloading at 250k. Very frustrating and annoying, as well as, grrrrrrr. Why???

I don't know why your non-Steam download is so slow - I get full usage of my 50Gbs connection when downloading updates etc.
The linking your account to Steam is troublesome it seems from some of the threads in the PC sub-forum - have you had a look at some of the FAQs on the support site to see if there are any pointers for you to try?

I did not link the Steam account until after I discovered the Frontier site was so slow. The Steam site is at least 10 times faster on downloads. I don't know why. I trierd all the suggested remedies from the forums, as well as a few things I thought up. No bueno. Strangely, every once in a blue moon, it will jump up to 3 or 4 mbps for a couple of seconds on Frontier, then drops back down to 250k again. On the up side, it leaves me enough headroom so that I can watch youtube videos without affecting the download speeds. The bandwidth is there on my end. It must be something to do with Frontier. I don't know if they have a mirror somewhere, or where Steam gets its files for the download, but Steam is much faster.
