ED Gameplay trailer I made

Hey BadBen!

I hope you dont mind but I'll tell you what I thought and what I'd suggest you do for you next video, but do with it what you want ;-) and ofcourse, lets discuss it!

I have no idea what I just saw, but it was definetly not a gameplay trailer. The selected footage is strange, there is no buildup, there seems to be 3-4 reoccuring scenery's and a couple of random shots. At first I (with the openingsshot, you start with the station and the music kicks in) though ok ok, this could be something. But then some random fighting scene's come to play, the music stays very "intro"-like for a long time, whilst I see a lot of action. Then I go back to the station, back to fighting, where you put some modules online, to a jump where the music adds another layer. But this stays on the same level as the "intro"-likeness I was talking about. After that some more fighting occurs and really at this point you have completely lost me. There is no story or any real buildup to anything, musical and footage wise. I think that is your crux, the music, it does not say a lot (I liked the start but it doesnt go anywhere). At the end the music stops but I still see random battle footage.

A few pointers:

- Pick music that says something, that tells a story of its own, unless the vid asks for something else like an action packed scene or whatever. The music you made is to generic, and altough I could understand if your argument was something like: It feels like procedural generated, it still does not do your vid any good.
- Build your footage up, you want to tell your audiance something, a story or an observable situation. This is going from here to there to here, with no real reason (for me atleast, I could not find one, I searched though...). If you start out with an insane battle as your second shot, then the following shots wont be good anymore.
- Your title: I suspected a trailer, but Elite has a lot more to offer then what you showed me, and way more awesome stuff that you showed me. This is a big crux, if it had sayed Elite D Impression or w/e, it would have been more forgiving.
- If you want to make a trailer, make sure it has some text/design, and atleast fade at the end, instead of the dead stop in music and 3 seconds later the footage.
- Dont give up. This might be a bit negative/harsh, but I always found honesty in these situations helps the creator more. Also, I want you to remember that this is my point of view, and last but not least: Your video quality/ED quality is very good, and thats why with a little bit of thinking before hand of what footage you want to collect, and a little more patience (this looks like an edit thats been done pretty fast) you could make some awesome vids!

Keep it up!
Greets,
Tikas

Yeah.......what he said. Only much more polite than I would be. Very, very disjointed footage. 3 seconds of fighting--OOH A SPACE STATION--3 more seconds of the same fight--OK IM DOCKING--different fight--CHECK OUT THE SYSTEMS PANEL.

Even when making a trailer,      has to make some kind of sense.
