ED HELP.... Users Please do not go AFK when setting on the pad on the outposts!!!

ED please give us an option here with a timer or something to resolve this, as Human players land on the pads then go AFK for whatever reason, with the end result of a back log of others waiting to land,
this is happening more and more, yesterday when I ask him to Launch (just sitting on the pad for over 15 min) so others could land I was more or less told to F*&% off as he would stay as long as he wanted.....

very tempted to pay the fine after he left the station.....

We need some help here as I am not the only one with the issue,

This subject has been discussed over and over again. It's a cutthroat world out there, no one is going to just give you a seat. Small Stations have limited spaces, it makes sense. Move along.

I went to Costa in Hartley Whitney yesterday, but there were no spaces in the car park so I had to go to another. I don't think the term 'cut-throat' came to mind. It was more a feeling of mild irritation; not something I personally would like replicated in a game. Can't see why people - once docked - can't be 'instanced' somehow so that the bay is freed up (unless this causes an issue with undocking - in that you could have two people undock at the same time, from the same bay... *bang*).

The other problem, is that you can't join a queue for the next free bay so you end up spamming docking requests. So, if FD want to keep the realistic 'Wait for a space', they could consider the option to join a queue (it would also tell you how many others were waiting, so you could make an informed decision as to whether to move along).

+1. Also, I've wondered what happens when a player logs out at an outpost? Does that then tie up the pad until they log on again and leave?

They are eternally stuck blocking the pad in that istance. Somewhere, there's a server that holds thousands upon thousands of instances with nothing more than logged off player ships blocking pads, some of whom will never move again....

They call these instances 'offline mode'...

I never have this problem. Even in really populated areas. There is never more than 1 or two commanders at an outpost at once. If I half to I just spam the docking but usually just watch for anything to leave and as soon as you see a ship departing spam the docking. it is usually more npc than pc blocking. But never more than 3 or 4 min wait.

very helpful.

Some times, a nudge back into reality is helping. He could have commented on one of the many "I Can't Dock" threads. He knows there is a Solo mode he can access, yet he spouts off about something he can control. The second line you read on the E: D main page says "Take control of your own starship in a cut-throat galaxy." After reading that, why anyone would think getting a seat at the table would be easy?

The game expects you to figure it out. Crying for all of these QOL issues is counter to the spirit of the game. That is how I read it, and that is how I describe it. Hand-holding is for all of the other MMO's out there, in my opinion. That is why I answered with some snark.

I really don't think it's the best solution that smaller outposts can be blocked in open play permanently by two people.

And I also don't think switching to Solo play to get around Open Play inconveniences is that great a solution either. That's not "figuring it out". I don't see why putting ships into the hangar doesn't free up the docking spot.

I'm not sure except maybe some realism. The fact remains, that we as players need to play as the world is, spending time gnashing your teeth over a slight inconvenience is not in the spirit of a Cutthroat Galaxy. Petty complaints are just that. There's no reason to go over it again and again. Jump in a discussion that's alreay started, or figure it out.

As far as I can see, the OP isn't confused about anything; there's nothing 'to figure out' in that respect. Also, there's a difference between improving the quality-of-life of a game and a game being cut-throat. There's nothing 'cut throat' about waiting for a docking bay, or this metaphorical 'seat at the table'. Making a game more 'user friendly' doesn't equate to 'hand holding'. As a player, I want the risk to be getting blown up by someone, not whether I can get a docking request accepted whilst Cmdr Joe Bloggs is on the loo reading "Pad Hogger Weekly".

Would be nice if the voice and text told us its a queue or pad too small. Just a nice touch that feels as it should be there 1300 years from now. :) Also, have local/adjacent news coming into the ship. Now that waiting time wont feel so long when you read the news and have the station tell you you are queued.

Sorry that you think this way, ED bills it as multiplayer, but yet a player can block a station because he / she decides to take a break, there is an issue, as for its been discussed over and over again YES I know, but it's still not been addressed, as for "Giving me a Seat" not asking them too.... but when a player blocks a pad, just to be a , as he/she know there are 3 others waiting, this is a problem which has not be addressed...

so in your own words.... Move along

I personally find the waiting around as part of the game! Usually when it's a player they are in and out in reasonable time, and I then initiate chat! I have several CMDR's on my friends list now from these encounters. Most of them communicate from time to time: 'Hi! I have that Asp now!' 'How's the trading going?' 'Killed any Anacondas recently?' and last night: ' Hey! Long time no see! How you doing? I have an Anaconda kill mission, fancy joining in?'

Most chats have led to a friending and as I said most of them come back every so often with a bit of chat, just to see how each other are doing, or whatever! Personally I think the chat thing is one of the best parts of the game, shame it is still rather clunky and doesn't always work due to peer to peer connection problems sometimes.

However, it does seem if you have players as friends, once you have appeared together in the same instance, the chat seems to carry on working, wherever each of you then go off to. Well, that's my experience so far, anyway.
