ED is "not VR Optimized" - but why ever not when it is the greatest available?

This is just silly. It is the reason some like me get as low as 30fps in Stations and RES dropping from 45. Even though some with i7 and a steady 90 get drops slightly. So can E:DD ever be "VR OPTIMIZED" or are we just to use an adaptation of a 2D game?

The lack of comprehensive curved panels in Maps and Markets is a sure sign of being dormant on this.

BTW if having trouble in GalMap to target then use vertical plane rotation to see the grid and target circle ;)

It's money that's why. It's always stupid monetary reasons. To be honest I would pay extra for a vr specific upgrade DLC. But that won't happen when there are less than a million vr users.

Is it money or a trade deal with Oculus/Vive/Gear because many releases which got grants on these platforms are quite cheap. You'd expect the Oculus Home and SteamVR versions to be "VR Optimized".

I wouldn't ever hold out hope for vr polishing any time soon. I mean as much as I love Elite, the company just has priorities man. Vr being extremely low on that list. Unless you want to pay Frontier a few million juicy big ones, this isn't ever going to be optimized.

Honestly I feel your pain but frankly if they could fund going back and revamping all this, I would rather they focused on other things first.

And there are many things which aren't optimized on Oculus Home. Oculus even has games on there which everybody hates and rates 1 star so it's not like they care too much about the quality of something. Frontier has no obligations to make that their priority.

That could change with the arrival of ps4 version, since the console has VR and it could become a big selling feature

One only has to look at the fontier live feeds with their staffers going all gooey over 2D optimized rubbish like the multi crew gunner, as they clutch their Xbox controllers, to understand where ED is going. To a toilet if you ask me.

Personally, I think you are overlooking the general point that the issue with frame rates in the VR environment is more down to the resolution of what is being rendered and the fact that the scene has to be rendered (at least) TWICE (once for each eye - and potentially a third time for the main screen due to viewing frustum differences).

The frame rate is always likely to be half in a 3D Display/VR environment compared with the standard 2D display experience.
