ED launcher very slow

Greetings all. Lately I’ve been experiencing an issue with the ED launcher. When you start it, it gets stuck on “working” usually for about 5+ minutes. Then when you try to do any other action, such as change game versions. It freezes up for 5-10 minutes before making the switch. During the time it freezes Windows reports that the app has stopped responding. It typically takes 10-20 minutes from opening the launcher until you can actually play the game.

I’ve tried to uninstall and reinstall, but the problem persists. Has anyone experienced this and, if so, would you have a solution?

Glad it is not just me seeing a delay in the launcher loading. I have to admit it is not for minutes nor do I get the other issues but it is very noticeable that the "working" animation is much longer than when I first started.

I have the same thing going on. It launches the game regardless and training works, but the news item on the bottom left corner of the starting screen says "cannot connect to Frontier servers" and trying to launch the game results in Ivory Cobra. This started after I bought Odyssey. Launcher bottom left corner says

"Server Status: Good"

I would try logging out of the launcher if I could, it just stays at "Working..."

Things I tried:
  • Checked network settings in-game and all is fine, no errors, no packet loss, IP, Gateway and everything look good. There have been no changes to my network.
  • Checked game files in Steam, they're fine. (I had wondered why it didn't download anything after I purchased Odyssey, that's why I checked)
  • Checked DLC's in Steam, Odyssey and all the others are there (base game, Horizons)
Ah, now the launcher threw an error: Unhandled Exception from HRESULT: 0x80072EE4

Then it died.

I'd reinstall, but OP stated it didn't help and I fear I'd lose my HOTAS bindings, and that would definitely kill all motivation to get back into the game after a multi-year hiatus. o_O

EDIT: I tried to start the game in pancake desktop mode instead of VR and then the launcher informed me that my account was linked to a Steam account and whether I wanted to log in with that or another account, to which I replied "use this account". Then it was "Working" again, which it is still doing, and I expect it to die again in a few minutes.

It all seems to be borked. I duplicated the launcher to at least get a login screen and that goes into infinite spinning wheel, too, after I login. I had bought Odyssey a week or so ago but launched the game only today, probably the purchase borked it. The client.log says it wants an update for FORC-FDEV-DO-38-IN-40 but doesn't seem to download it, there is no network activity going on from the game.

I opened a ticket, but am still open to ideas.
