ED Loosing focus since a few days???

Hello fellow ED rifters!

I 've had a very annoying problem for a few days now: at some times (usually the worst possible time, when I come through the letterbox), ED looses focus and I'm left with a black screen in the rift, only solution is to try to throttle back to avoid major damages to my ship, shut down the rift to switch to the monitor, ctrl-alt-del and kill ED Client (at that point I can't bring ED back to the screen although I know by the damage occuring to my ship that it's still running OK).

I was running with 0.6.0.1 runtime, rolled back to 0.5 tonight and still encounterd this problem two times in one hour playtime tonight.

First I suspected GEForce experience trying to push updates, uninstalled it but no luck.

I play in extended mode, win 7 x64, before launching I go to Nvidia control panel and untick monitor so I have the rift as only display. It worked rock steady for months but now it's loosing focus every half hour or so... I suspect third party program to steal focus of the game, but which one? I always use game booster to kill unnecessary process before playing.

Anyone here encountered that issue?

(I will raise a ticket but I'm pretty much sure it's not directly ED related)

0.6 SDK is unsupported at present. Frontier did make mention of this in a previous developer update.

Thanks, but I know that, that's why I rolled back to 0.5 runtime tonight, although 0.6.1 was working pretty well. It's not the issue here. Same thing with both runtimes...

OK I thought this was software related, but tonight the rift is completely dead. Looks like a HDMI cable or connector issue. Moving/twisting/jerking the cable on the HMD connector will light the screen for a few seconds but when I let it loose it goes dark again. And the HMD led goes from blue to orange.

I contacted Oculus support.

Waiting anxiously for an answer.

Feeling first withdrawal symptoms now...

I had this - try unplugging the external power adaptor that goes into the Rift cable bundle (or plugging it in if it is not).

Good Luck!

Latest news on my struggle with VR addiction:

Oculus support was very professional and efficient. They made me test with a short HDMI cable I had and the rift screen was working again. Oculus support said they were shipping me a new cable (the whole cable with the connector box for camera sync), ETA 2-3 weeks to France. 2-3 weeks seeming way too long without VR, I got myself a 3m HDMI cable. Plugged it tonight, launched Time machine VR and after 15 minutes, crashed to desktop... Ummm. Restart computer, launch ED, play for half an hour and... Same old song again, though this time I was sitting on a station's pad when it occured.

Something's very wrong with my setup. I had the feeling it could be related to that annoying windows 10 upgrade taskbar icon (it appeared in the same time frame as my problems), so I killed the process before launching ED (GWX.EXE), but it was not the culprit. (@Bee Zee, I tried with or without the PSU, even measured its output in case it would have fried, but no).

Will give it another go tomorrow. 1.4 beta is coming... ED:H beta is coming...

Thanks everybody for your answers.

I'm still waiting for the Oculus new cable but with a new HDMI cable and a new graphic card (upgrade from 770 to 970 planned for a long time), I was able to play 2 consecutive 2 hours sessions without any problem. So I have no definite answer, but it looks like it was related to my GTX770 (faulty or simply lack of performance).
