Were there any players near? I was nearly taken out by a bloody CMDR in a T7 boosting out of a station I managed to move to the side as I was carrying 80 rares I would have been very unhappy at a ram kill.

There wasn't another player near was there at a rare's station?. I was on the classic Lave/Fujin run from Reddit. I think it was at the Fujin end maybe 39 Tauri or the Solo Orbiter in Altair.

Nope, I was 'alone', and a good 200Ly of your system ;-) I had 100% clearence, free sight ^^

How do you fly without insurance? I thought insurance was an automatic thing when you bought the ship?

Think of it as the deductible you have to worry about when you're getting your replacement ship.

Fun story! I can equate to it - on a smaller scale .

I'm doing similar with an Adder, struggling to find somewhere to sell my rares though - black markets seem to be tricky to find when you want one. I've been flying around with 7t (its an adder, and a I'm ready for a fight with it) of rares that I want to offload.

My hands were literally clamped over my face in horror as I read that - it's the crazy, tense moments of sheer terror that make ED the game it is

I've managed to wipe out two T6's almost fully loaded with rares in the past week due to really stupid mistakes. And only last week I made a remark to someone that I hadn't trashed a ship since gamma. D'oh! Just had to laugh it off and try to learn from it

Basically one of the reasons I don't think I'll be getting anything bigger than my Eagle for now. Losing it is no pain. I always fly at high speed into the station, and get out with light speed. And yes, sometimes I smash the wall after boosting. But as it is not expensive, it's rather funny.

I've flown without insurance, didn't do anything so monumentally dumb (thank god) whilst doing it, and came out the other end richer and less stressed. But it don't half pull on the ol' ticker.

yeah if the other big ships would have the same insurance values, and non proportional, ok... but that would then be again too easy ^^

I entered a station without clearance in a ship I couldn't afford to replace too, ended up throwing it in reverse and backing out at high impulse speed. Couldn't see anything, lol, I am sure anyone coming into the station when I did that was wide eyed. All that mining experience, scooping cargo, back and forth, finally came in handy. Love the game, it's those moments of terror that make the game worth while.

I've had to do the same, gotten through the slot in my first asp since release, realised I forgot to request docking when it come up in red... INSANT FULL REVERSE!!! luckily I was only cruising through at half speed not full speed when I entered and had not changed heading towards the pad...
