ED Memory usage

Just a query, is anyone seeing ED memory usage exceeding 5GB? Since the last mini update I'm fairly certain there is some sort of memory leak.

Previously I could leave the game for day's on end without a restart, now after a few hours the memory usage will keep going up until I restart.

Could anyone here let me know what type of usage they see after a few hours gameplay. (preferably Horizons 64 bit running ultra)

Thanks

Hrm not really, been driving SRV? I have only been flying, not landing of late, maybe is planetside related?

Been on of the past 5 hours 1.45GB memory allocated only.

I've never had more than about 2.5 GB in memory usage... as this is the amount of RAM when the game usually crashes after slowly creeping up there from the start value.

There was and there is a memory leak that is - at least with me - only now and then.

After the 2.0/1.5 update in december, it was 2.5 GB every 15-30 minutes. Got better with every minor update since then.

Thanks, pretty much the same usage I've been seeing over the last few years. This high usage only started happening since the last update.

@ xondk - planets don't seem to make any difference, it seems to be every witchspace jump that increases memory usage. Does anyone know if verifying the ED files will reset my Key bindings and menu settings? Thinking of giving it a try, maybe somethings corrupt from the last update.

Just to clarify - EliteDangerous64.exe is currently using 1.5GB, I can leave the ship sat at a dock for the next 24 hours and it will stay roughly the same, as soon as I start jumping to other systems the usage will continue to increase, maxing out just under 6GB until I restart.

Cheers

Interesting - I left my game running yesterday afternoon, docked at a station, while I took the dog out for a walk - when I came back, it had crashed. I will try to monitor the memory usage and let you know if I see anything.

Hmmmmmm I'm returning from a 10K LY trip and Today I have executed over 125 Hyperspace jumps towards home, but RAM usage is still 1.45GB.

Why leave the game runing when you will be afk a long period of time?

Well apart from Shadowdancers genius idea :) this PC is dedicated to ED, I tend to leave the ship sat and ready at a port logged in, dip in and out of the game when I want.

Don't think the issue I am seeing is related to how long the session has been going, seems to be related to hyperspace jumps. @Dan - Thanks, at least I know the issue is specific to my rig... Just need to find out what changed when I performed the last update.

Where are you in game? Does it occur anywhere? Anything in particular to cause the leak?

Hey Brett, in my case the memory increase builds during each hyperspace jump. No issue If I am sat at a port or stay in a single system.

That's exactly what I've seen as well. During my last deep exploration I've seem usage coming close to what a 32 bits program is able to manage. Back then the game crashed a couple of times, I've commented the crash reports and pointed towards a leak as well. 5 gig is peanuts for a 64 process, if you have the hardware that is.

In my experience landing on planets (unsurprisingly) causes the game's memory usage to balloon sometimes to around 6GB (if it's already been on for a while). There also seems to be a slow general increase over time, I haven't noticed any common pattern though.

Overall in my experience the 2.x clients have seemed much more hungry than 1.x, although I imagine some of that is due to the switch to a 64-bit client.
