ED multiplayer is ...

Multiplayer at this stage is lacking. Comms are a bit time consuming to do with a keyboard. But at the same time, in this stage of the game a large portion of multiplayer isn't in game yet.

Because voicing concerns is best done after the game is released, and not during its development where faults can be cought early, right?

The concerns were voiced so eloquently too, in a highly detailed way that contributed to much debate etc.

so erm no... not with just the word rubbish to go on.

Given the size of the play area, how frequent did you expect player encounters to be?

in fairness though, it isnt very realistic.

Lets take our own universe .. its an observable 92 billion light years big and this planet has 7 billion people

so averaging it out, there should be a human every ... edit: argh maths failing me ... lets say 700 million light years away

despite that, I can see 32 people from where I sit ...... which oddly enough is the same instance size as in Elite Dangerous

Rubbish.

Just saying ...

I am still waiting for the game company that just kick-ban-deletes stuff like this. If you understand the entire infrastructure needed for a game (the game itself, forums, etc. pp.) than I´d really be happy about anti-social behaviour being punished as such.

at least in my home: nobody enters and spits on the floor without being thrown out.

oh..

Just saying ...

I believe the main purpose of interacting with the beta is to test the stuff that's in it, not whinge about the bits that are as yet not present.

Or did I forget how testing stages work? I must have, clearly its principle intent is to, for example, look at a concept car, and because it's just a drawing on a page, it must be a terrible car! After all, I can't drive that! It's made out of pen!

Sorry,

but bassman is really right. Now for everyone who is NOT playing together with other people here are the reasons:

Things we noticed, which make the game unplayable for players who want to team up together in the open play:

1. Instancing does not work. Several trys are needed until you get assigned to the same instance (or call it island), even if the players are friends with each other.

2. Other players can see you (and shoot you) and you can´t see them, even if they are in front of you and 20meter away.

3. Other Player are jumping around or / and unhitable (some Kind of LAG)

4. After we went out of Hyperspace, we never saw more than 6 players on the same place. So where are the 32 players islands? Maybe that also shows, that the netcode is currently not working well.

In my opinion a P2P connectivity is not a solution for ED. The architecture should be just Client-Server based, that means the Clients should just communicate with the Server and not with other Clients. There should be servers in Europe, America, Asia,... for an optimum of gameplay fun. ED is advertised as a MMO and thats why I bought the game, so please make this basic things work until release.

Maybe some moderator can forward this to the developers. There are a lot of players (not just bassman and me) that are not happy with the multiplayer at the moment!

You are entitled to your opinion but if you want to start a thread to discuss the topic, please do so in a more eloquent manner in the future.

The premise of this thread is borderline trolling, so it will be closed.
