ED Odyssey now runs on Fedora Workstation 34.

Guess what everyone, using Linux, ED Odyssey now runs on Fedora Workstation 34. :)

Yes, that's correct, I simply installed the latest edition of Fedora Workstation Linux,
I then did all the updates, which Fedora asked me each time to do, to help keep it up-to-date.

I then installed Steam which comes native for Linux (I think you can use "sudo dnf install steam"
in a Terminal, and it will work - be careful because dnf is case sensative). Then install Lutris
which is important in order to run any Steam game for MS Windows. Now when your
download for ED Odyssey, in Steam is complete, simply run Lutris, and do a search in Lutris
for Elite Dangerous (it does come up) . Now in Lutris, left-click on the Lutris ED icon, and choose
Proton to install/configure ED. Don't worry, while in Lutris, you don't have to configure and setup anything,
only do the very basic steps I am outlining here. :)

Now, simply follow the prompts, as per usual, to run any game in Steam. And, if you managed to
follow these instructions, Ed Odyssey will run in all it's glory. :)
Kind regards,
Howard Pew.

You don't need Lutris for steam games. Just install through Steam and it'll set up Proton when you first run it. I'd recommend setting up one of the alternate open-source launchers though, as the default one can be painfully slow on Linux.

EDIT: To clarify, I mean an alternate Elite launcher. Realised that was unclear.

I'm curious as to the performance difference between this method and running it natively on windows. Does it run better, same or worse?
