ED - Seeing souls of dead spacers while in supercruise?

I was trying to recall what the sips in Super-cruise reminded me of.

Then it hit me - they reminded me of the effects in the 1985 film Lifeforce. With the souls of people being turned into energy and vacuumed up by the aliens.

Here's the eveidence -

I hate that dust/smoke... It looks just terrible. I mean wouldn't it be better without it.

I would suggest same kind of distortion effect as in the start of supercruise, around the moving spec of light. Would be infinitely cooler than that fog, and would probably be even more GPU/CPU friendly.
I really hope they change this effect.
