ED Servers are going down for 2.3.10 at 10:00 BST.

Still means you won't be able to play until it's officially released on PS4, but it does mean that you won't need a day one patch (as that was done on day -1 :)

Just loaded the game to do some more docking tutorial practice and I'm locked out of the tutorials. hmm okay

Better today than tommoz m8 ;) you can't normally get to the main menu when the servers are down, they changed the normal process to allow new players to try the tutorials so you might have to wait for the servers to come online and get the day one update off sony now?

Anyone out there get an update notification for digital download yet? I'm assuming unless we get a patch download today the launch will go as indicated on last week's stream.

Also (from experience) even if a PS4 is set to auto download updates, pre-release patches need to be manually triggered with the "check for update" function in the XMB. So spam that options button.

Not quite right (in my experience).

The console when it first boots in a day (day cut-off is 3am/4am) will check to see if any games installed on the hard-drive have any updates.

if so, it will try to download / install them.

If you leave the console on for any extended length of time, the second, third, subsequent check wont happen.

As you said though, it is possible to force check for updates but selecting the Elite icon, clicking 'options' and then selecting 'check for updates' from the side menu.

If the day 1 patch is available for download, if active logins check for updates or people currently logged in switch their consoles on, the patch will be pulled down to the console and the application will update.

Well said and a good synopsis for anyone who may be confused on the subject. I recently had an issue with a Battlefield patch not downloading while in rest mode, despite using the system at around noon that day. It prevented me from playing in a private competitive match, so I'm a little wary of automatic updates.

Hmm, actually I'm just gonna leave the system on all day. 92% sure it won't burn down my building.

Maybe 85%...

Can we re-name this the positive patch thread?

I have just been over to the Elite Dangerous-> News and Updates-> Patch Notes thread and the level of criticism is amazing in the three hours that the thread has been going.

- People moaning that the servers were taken down too early
- people moaning that the servers haven't been taken down yet (30 mins into the change window)
- people moaning that their previously reported bug wasn't explicitly mentioned in the fix notes
- people moaning that there isn't enough detail on changes to Colonia

Meanwhile, on this thread, everyone is hungry for as much information as possible, happy that one of the known 'big ticket' items flagged as potentially blocking access to the full game is going in early (it all looks positive)

Frontier could have slipped this to tomorrow without anyone (really) complaining as a number of high profile people were returning from LaveCon but they didn't. They have done something above and beyond the previously stated expectation.

Thanks Frontier for the good work

Thanks Brett for keeping the updates coming
