ED unable to load in VR Oculus CV1

I've been trying for 5 days now to get ED to open in VR with Oculus to no avail, All I get when I launch ED is "Sorry this application is taking so long to load", and it never goes past that screen.
Here's what I've done.

I got ED to work perfectly in ultra on its own prior to installing Oculus software. (TV HDMI, only one HDMI port on PC card).
I installed Oculus software and everything Oculus related works perfectly, all demos are good, (in VR Headset).

Followed all instructions here in the various forums for installing ED and Oculus software

I launch ED in VR and I get the error, "sorry this application is taking so long to load etc..."

I've uninstalled ED and uninstalled Oculus, Installed latest drivers for Nividia GTX1070Ti, i7-7700k
I've reinstalled everything in a Windows 10 ROOT Admin account, no luck. uninstalled everything.
Re-install everything in a normal Admin account no luck.
I obtained the ED redeem code for Oculus, I launch ED from within Oculus, no luck, "Sorry this application is taking so long to load etc...."

Could it be that my basic VGA monitor plugged into VGA is in conflict with the main card ?, unlikely as Oculus hi-jacks the main card into direct mode, I really don't know and I'm at a loss, wondering where I'm going to place my air-cooled 3000 dollar paperweight.

My basic VGA monitor displays the "Elite Dangerous (Client)" window but the window is blank, the mouse is present in the window, hence I've been unable to set "HMD Headphones" in Elite.

Surely the game should load in VR even if "HMD Headphones" is NOT set, SURELY, SURELY if I launch ED from within Oculus it should default to HMD and load.......

EDIT: is it a requirement to have a monitor plugged into a DVI port and NOT the VGA port ?, if so then I need to go shopping for a DVI capable monitor.

Can you clarify this question? It sounds like you're using your integrated graphics card as well as your 1070Ti, which will lead to problems. Disable your integrated graphics card in BIOS and plug one monitor and the Rift into your 1070Ti. You can buy VGA adapters, although it's not clear to me that's your problem since I'm having trouble reading your post.

edit to add You can also use an HDMI dummy like this to force your system to think you have a monitor plugged in, if your current monitor really only has VGA.

yes I am using the integrated Graphics VGA. I will disable it in BIOS and get a adapter for the VGA monitor,

I'm currently doing a clean install of windows 10 as somehow nothing shows in windows default programs and I can't load programs which require .NET 3.5, all this on a brand new recently bought PC Tower PC. *sigh*

Many thanks.

Make sure it's an active adapter, the 1070Ti doesn't have the VGA signal on the dvi port anymore.

A dummy monitor like heretowatch suggests is worth a shot too if it's cheaper.

Just quick question to OP.

You HAVE ticked the "Unknown sources" option in the Oculus "General" Settings menu?

With this off, Oculus won't allow ED access to VR, giving just the same message you are getting.

If you are downloading from Oculus' store I think you still might need this setting, not sure on that point,
but you do need it if you are going to try VR in an already installed ED.
You can launch ED from the normal launcher then use options to switch into VR.

Hope this helps and points you in the right direction.

:)

PS: Just buy a DVI --> VGA converter not a monitor

Yes I did enable "Unknown sources" in Oculus when I tried ED from its standalone desktop icon, no luck.
I uninstalled the desktop version of ED.
I then obtained a ED redeem code for Oculus, downloaded and installed ED from within Oculus, disabled "Unkown sources", launched ED from within Oculus, no luck. Throughout those ordeals I had the monitor plugged into the Integrated Graphics VGA port.

Yesterday
I completed a clean install of windows 10 and .NET 3.5 now shows correctly in Microsoft default programs, .Net 3.5 Installed perfectly.
Installed Oculus, from within Oculus Installed ED, disabled "Unknown sources".
I haven't run Oculus > ED yet as I'm awaiting a DisplayPort > HDMI adapter so that I can use my TV as a monitor with sound. Having only ONE HDMI port is a serious drawback, failing that I'll buy another monitor with DVI. (DVI > VGA unavailable on this Island).

I'll then disable Integrated graphics in BIOS, and fingers crossed it'll run.
I'm certain that the issue is the Integrated Graphics as suggested above, what I don't understand is why Oculus/ED doesn't run if the Integrated graphics card is enabled, surely Oculus programmers would somehow tell the computer to ignore integrated graphics, If Oculus can disable the Nvidia application from showing settings why cant Oculus ignore integrated graphics ?.

SUCCESS at last, its beautiful, truly beautiful.

I removed the VGA monitor and used my TV as the monitor with a DisplayPort > HDMI cable, perfect from the word go, everything works as advertised.

It should be posted somewhere DO NOT USE THE MOTHERBOARD'S INTEGRATED GRAPHICS VIDEO PORTS.

For info there is no option to disable integrated VGA in the BIOS, ASUS board.

Thank you all for time time and patience,
