ED will be playable with the gamers of PC and the gamers of the XBox One, all together in the galaxy ?

Microsoft announced for Windows 10 : "The gamers of PC will have access to Xbox Live, the online gaming platform of Xbox One and will be able to play with the console users. And games purchased on Xbox will be available for free on PC" --- Frontier will allow for ED ? (We know that the galaxy will be shared, but playing together ?)

Well, ED will probably not be using Xbox live, remember there are Mac users, too. I wouldn't hold out too much hope for playing together with the console versions (problems with patching, etc).

I remember reading somewhere that we will share the same universe, not sure if we will be able to see each other tho.

I thought Mac users and PC users can see and interact with each other in the same game instance, and you wouldn't be able to tell what platform anybody was using. Why wouldn't XBox users be able to do the same?

All we know for certain is that everyone will play in the same universe even if Xbox players might not be matched with PC/Mac. They have said that they would like to make it possible for full cross play, but that this might not be possible in regards to the validation process for getting console patches out. Having to wait for patches to be verified would mean holding back the other platforms even if they were ready to go, something they don't want.

If Microsoft have relaxed these requirements then this might change, but there is also another thing to take into account and that is the work involved with releasing patches across multiple platforms at once. It might actually help to keep them seperate so that things can be tested on one of the platforms (PC probably since that is what they are developing on) before launching across all the others.

PC and Mac players can see each other just fine. As for consoles...well...see above. ;)

Microsoft has strict code vetting practices on patches which would hold up new releases on PC/MAC/Steam. DB seems to be alluding that Xbox players will either have their own instances or be placed in their own instances as long as they lag behind in release version.

Either way should work. However, the PC/MAC/Steam users will have extra time in a release so it may not be fair to the Xbox player.

Edit: This would be akin to beta players getting extra time before regular release.

I hope FD and MS can find a solution to the delayed patches issue. Having everyone able to see each other would really help populate the Galaxy.

Would be nice for everyone to be together.

My query would be, will ED be popular for console players? Based on my family and friends that play on consoles alot more than I do and have seen me play ED, none of them have shown much interest. Soon as they know it does'nt have instant pvp or any visible storyline they lose all interest

If I remember right, PC and Mac are together (as it is now), and Xbox and PC/Mac players are in the same background simulation, but cannot see each other because of the patch schedule issue for one.

I hope so much that we are NEVER matched with console players. If we are, I'm deleting this game from my hard drive. No way am I playing with a bunch of <redacted> <redactalingo> <Redactamundo>'s.

Pretty sure the last thing DB said was that the universe simulation and interaction would be shared but we wouldn't actually see them in game.
