ED Will no longer start from Steam

I am now unable to log into ED from steam. I get the Frontier page, then a message saying I need to update.

This was both before and after running todays update.

How do I update when there are no updates to load? My frontier account is still linked to steam.

PS I posted here as there doesnt seem to be a tech section.

Restarting Steam might fix it. Or waiting. Or possibly clicking Upgrade in the launcher if it gives you that option. Steam can be slow to get the updates, though. It's one reason I stopped using it.

I've tried all that, restarted many times, re linked accounts, re validated files several times. Checked all my keys, then decided to wait for the update today, which installed OK, but still the same issue.

Yes. I am lucky that I bought ED on Steam before the login changes happened (sometime in 2019 I think). So I am able to just run directly from the ED Launcher and not have to bother with Steam at all. I just had to download the game from the Frontier store and install it. I have plenty of games on Steam, but ED doesn't seem to work well with it, for whatever reason.

The update isn't sitting in your downloads waiting for a time to start is it... i had to go in and manually start the update

other than the ticket you already have open
I would try
deleting your gpuworktable,xml from your products folder (will reset the gpu cache incase anything nasty or bugged)
and in the elite launcher options selecting log off machine (will refresh your game assets)
hope you get back in soon!
