ED without Steam : help

Starting to get really p*ssed off with Steam !

I bought & installed ED with Steam but I'm not using it to launch Elite Dangerous (using ED launcher). I downloaded the last 23rd april update directly from the launcher (so without Steam).

In the last weeks, I launched Steam 2 times to do stuff (not related to ED) and it automatically started the download of april update even if I already downloaded & installed it with the ED launcher. Steam doesn't seem to recognize that the game was updated. So both time it corrupts the game files & launcher and I can't launch the game anymore. I have also disabled "Automatic update" in Steam but it still starts the download each time I launch it.

Even if I try to "Verify game files" it's completely bugged. Last time I had to reinstall the launcher and redownload (again) the last patch (5 Go) to be able to play again. This time, same thing but I'll try to download directly from Steam so it "knows" that the game is updated. Still I find it weird that Steam doesn't recognize the game version and since I have a really ty connection each time it means a full day of download...

Even if I downloaded & installed ED with Steam is there anyway I can unlink ED from Steam ? Could I reinstall ED without linking it to Steam ? I'm not really fancy of playing game through those kind of tools so the simpler the better...

Thanks o7

What if you were to move the game folder outside of where Steam installs it and then point Frontier's launcher to the new location.

For all intents and purposes Steam would think you don't have the game installed and therefore not muck around with updates and you should just be able to launch the game via Frontier's launcher.
