Hardware & Technical ED Working on Surface Pro 3

Hi commanders.

Just to report that ED works on the Surface pro 3 Core i3.
Nothing compared to my desktop which has a corei5 with a nvidia 780, but plays very well on low settings.

Just in case anyone was wondering or thinking of buying one :D

That's encouraging! I'm getting an i7 version from work and was wondering how it might perform with games. My main rig is a liquid-cooled behemoth, so it's got some big shoes to step into...

Ive gone as far as to run skyrim and fallout new vegas (unmodded) and it runs at steady 30fps on mid settings

This interests me greatly as I am looking to play ED but just purchased an SP3. Any chance we could get a video of it running on your SP3?

On a side note a made a duct that you can attach to your SP3 to help get better gaming performance. Check it out here (bit.ly/WVRQuT) - sorry, can post hyperlinks yet. I play skyrim with this fan and will get a min fps around 20 under heavy graphical situations but probably average around 30fps. I'm hoping ED will run at least similarly.

I have an i7 Surface Pro 3 (8gb 256 HDD). So far it's the only computer I've playing ED on, hooked up to my projector. All it has really done is make me want to build a cheap gaming computer (or get an Alienware Alpha).

If there was a way to have an external GPU, I think this game would scream on here, but the GPU sucks as-is. I run everything at low at 1280x768 and I get between 10-30 fps. I even ran in 3D on my 3D projector but the method it uses (while not causing much slow down) is really blurry, you'd need to run at 1080p or probably higher, which the SP3 just can't do.

Honestly I did a test of ED on the surface pro 3 out of curiosity but I do not think this is a gaming device in any way and after the few tests I did I have not play ED on it any more. To play elite you can get a laptop for the same price with a dedicated GPU

I agree, just wanted people to know what to expect when trying. Gaming on the Surface Pro 3 reminds me a lot of gaming on macbook pros. Really just not worth messing with unless it's all ya got.
