RULES:
1) Use of Photoshop and/or any external photo-altering programs is not allowed. Not everyone has leet Photoshopping skills, and everyone deserves a fair chance. If I see a name on someone's ship, or a Thargoid ship hovering in the distance, or a rainbow thruster burn (as examples, mind you), it will be disqualified.
Note: Some Commanders may have their screenshots 'signed' with a faded signature in a corner somewhere. This is fine and will not count against you.
2) Members of the Admin team may enter. HOWEVER, They may not judge. After much debate, the judge team will consist of myself, Nicola and Sam.
3) Please use only screenshots that YOU have taken. Do not use another's painstaking hard work acquiring an awesome shot.
4) Please make sure to state in the screenshot's description what category you want it in. Those categories being "Solar Shots (anything with suns in them)", "Ring Shots (any ringed sun or planet shot, in or outside said rings)" and "Hilarious Shots (get stuck in the toast rack? Have another ship..."attaching" itself to your ship? Saw a bunch of ships playing Ship Jenga? Those are perfect for hilarious shots.)". All Screenshots entered are fair game for the "EDC Commander's Choice". If you do not put in which category you want to be entered in, you will only have the option of the EDC Commander's Choice. So DO NOT FORGET. The judges will not chase after you to make sure you get it put into a category.
5) You may enter as many screenshots as you like, but make sure they are all different from each other. In other words, do not enter five of the near-same image (example, trying to get that perfect pose of several ships and taking five or more screens of almost-identical poses). Pick one that is your favorite and submit that.
6) Should a screenshot be submitted that contains several Commander's ships in it and the shot should win in any of the categories, the Commander who entered the shot will receive the prize.
7) Screenshots are to be ONLY from the Elite: Dangerous game. (Yes, it had to be said.)

Warm up that F10 button, Commanders! That competition I told you about? It shall be a screenshot competition, which will be starting Wed, April 15th (consider this a few-day notice) and ending Wed, April 22nd (No submissions before then, please.)
For those that don't know what's going on or are new since the following incident, my motherboard is on the fritz (though currently juryrigged to allow me to be online) and was flipping out and dying on me numerous times. I later found out it is a pin issue and its not allowing a proper connection anymore. Two people, Nicola and Sam, decided to wrangle a fundraiser even after I had said I wasn't looking for anything, that I had only wanted to inform people of what was going on. Needless to say, the amount that this amazing community poured forth to help stunned me and honestly brought tears to my eyes. So...now that the new motherboard is on its way, there is $37.00 left over. I wanted to do something fun to give back and add a bit to it as a huge thankyou to everyone (Its also a great time to do this as we JUST hit 5K members
).
So! That brings us to the Competition.
There will be prizes, fun and hilarity. There will be four Categories: Rings, Suns, Hilarious Shots and EDC Commander's Choice. The Hilarious Shots can be just about anything...yes, including ship (I know you were thinking it... )! If you decide to include other Commanders in your screenshot, the prize will go to the Commander who posted the shot. You may enter as many screenshots as you want, but please don't submit multiples that appear to have only a slight difference...for example, five pictures of a similar pose of ships, each one just slightly different. Pick the best out of those five and submit that.
Also, and it shouldn't HAVE to be said, but I will be clear, JUST in case: The screenshots are to be ONLY from the Elite: Dangerous game.
The screenshots MUST go into the Album in the Elite: Dangerous Community named "Talynne's Screenshot Competition", otherwise they won't be counted (This album will be created before the 15th by me, do not create it yourself.). Also, feel free to leave a small description with your entry. It will help give that air of 'awesome' to it. ^_^
Here's the fun part. I will have a small panel of judges to help me with choosing winners. But the best part is that the fourth category is where everyone gets involved; everyone gets to choose their favorites and the one with the most 'likes' will receive the "EDC Commander's Choice Award". So when you guys are going through the album, click like on your top favorites
What are the prizes, you ask? High-quality Posters of your winning screenshot, paid for by me. Details are below.
I will require the original picture file of the winning screenshots, as Facebook likes to squish them down to size and a full-size picture will likely turn out rather...fuzzy and low quality. I will contact the winners once the contest is over to figure out the best way of sending the files. If you can get the high-res screenshots from Solo Mode, that would probably be even better.

Again, this is starting on Wed, April 15th and will end Wed, April 22nd. There will be a several day period where judging will take place, allowing all of you to go through and make sure you have chosen your top favorite, ending Saturday night (25th) US time. Winners will be announced shortly after, and by the time my payday on the 1st rolls around, I should have all the information I need to get the prizes sent off.
Note: Please be courteous and don't use other people's screenshots from months ago. Find your own spots, take your screenshots, spend that half hour getting the PERFECT shot. Also, keep your artistic eyes open; you never know when the perfect shot will happen. The picture below was one that happened while I was in a RES earlier. WE HAVE OUR WINNERS!!!
I want to start off by saying you guys...I can't believe the amount of participation, honestly. You all bombarded the album with some really, REALLY amazing shots. You all fulfilled each category and I had a very, VERY hard time choosing. My other two judges also had a very, very hard time. You did NOT make this easy on us in the LEAST. If I could, I would print off every single one of these for all of you. But sadly we HAD to make a choice. And to make it even more fair, we made sure that no one won in more than one category. I want no one to feel upset or hurt, because you ALL did amazing and I am keeping every single picture on my harddrive. A lot of them are certainly worthy of desktop wallpaper time! grin emoticon
As judges, we noticed a quite a few shots that were far better suited to a different category (namely because when looking at it, one would be thinking of one category when it had been labeled as another), thus we needed to flex them around a bit.
And to note, I gave them all my own personal names just so I knew which ones were which. Names of the pictures can be changed ^_~
