EDFX Graphics Mod in VR?

Last night I watched ObsidanAnt on youtube, as he showed of EDFX to enhance image quality.

Will this affect and improve the image also on the rift?
As I understand it, the Rift is not really considered as a display in Windows.
If it works it might be a nice way to improve for example contrast in the Rift.

Question is also if it has a big hit on fps.

As far as I know EDFX nor sweetfx will not work with the release oculus drivers.
Those videos you saw with obsidian ant was probably from last year when the oculus drivers were still pre-release using extended video as opposed as direct video of today!
I too wish very much edfx or sweetfx was working with todays drivers, it would help so much with smearing and overall graphics quality of space!

Prior to the official release of Oculus, we ran the rift in extended mode which allowed configuration of the display from Nvidia settings and also from Sweet Fx plugins etc which was fantastic and made a huge difference.

Since the release, Elite could only run in direct mode which meant these tweaks could no longer be used.

Using the debug tool vastly improved the image quality as it could improve the pixel density, but for me, I lost a lot of contrast and vibrance. The debug tool is now integrated into the game settings via the HMD quality slider. Some people claim to have fixed the contrast and colour issue by connecting a monitor to the HDMI port which allows you to change to full colour range, and then insert the HMD back into the port, or connect the rift to DP port via an adaptor, but neither worked for me on the DK2.

So although the sharpness is improved via the HMD quality slider/debug tool, we still cant play around with vibrance/contrast and any other of the features that came with Sweet FX and the like.
