Editable signs

I noticed a few, but they seem limited in the amount of signs as compared to the amount we had in the first Planet Coaster.

I couldn't agree less. The signs in PC1 were horrendous, ugly and limiting. The new editable text in PC2 is one of the most underappreciated and best new features of the game!
until your area is so full with items, that the lod fails and the text gets washed or is not visible until your zoomed in on 1m.

So yes love the text, but they really need to work on the drawdistance for it.

They really need a way so we can adjust the lod in the settings. I've always thought the draw distances were too close.

Someone on YouTube mentioned a great idea of being able to import custom .png images that could be used for signs.

As long as the shape is rectangular or circular, or can be combined out of those 2, you can (on PC). Been doing that quite a lot in my park file:

The left one is 2 rectangular video walls, each with half of the sign, the right one is one circular video wall and 2 rectangles.

What I was hoping for was the ability to import images without the use of billboards / video screens.

Png images would allow for any shapes / text / fonts to be used, not sure how this would affect performance though.

That would not happen as there's always going to be a model and that would mean a model is to be generated based on the shape of the image, which would kill any device.
The only thing that might be feasable is a very thin, square model, that could not show transparency, though detecting transparancy out of an image would also mean extra calculations.

I can certailny see the creativity in putting odd shaped images on walls, but I think it's highly unlikely they'll spend the resources, both man- as computing power, on that.
