EDLauncher Install / Size / Memory Requirements ?

Hey Guys, I'm hoping someone can clarify what the actual Game Install Size is ? You see I've always been a big fan of Elite and bought ED as soon as it was released and updated as prompted by the Launcher. Ive now got just over 60GB used in the EDLauncher folder and its updating again with a 2 hour download ! It didn't bother me when i bought the laptop 2 years ago but now it is a bit cluttered and I'm running out of storage space o the HD so is there any way i can reduce this without loosing account, config, or breaking the game entirely ? As far as i can tell I've only got ED Horizons as I've never purchased additional content. Thanks for your kind support and advice.

May your pirating be profitable :D
Good Luck

kinda depends on which version's of the game you have installed(optional dl avail in the launcher) but the main bulk of each version can be found in your products folder odyssey for eg C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products............ mine is 50.6GB for that
other files are small kb size that always goto c drive like your saved game control bindings & gfx settings for eg
(to install to a diifrent location it is advised to run the game launcher package from said drive but you can just move the products folder where you want)

Elite Dangerous Horizons (Live) is a 50gb download.
If you will purchase Odyssey, you will not download anything else (it will use the same game files)

Elite Dangerous Legacy is another 20gb download - which is optional - it represents the Legacy version of Elite (v3.8) which now is a completely different game from live. It has a separated cmdr save and the action happens in a separated galaxy.

Thanks Commanders,

Just one more question. Legacy V Live. I'm assuming Live is online so is Legacy now single player offline ? Why did the game diverge ? ie why did 3.8 become legacy and moving forward it went to live ? technical reasons or ?? Also , yea i know .. one question right ! :D also what does oddessy offer if i were to purchase it ?

The split between Legacy and Live happened when the new BGS mechanics for the Thargoid war were introduced. It had been the case before that the old Horizons didn't even have the hostile Thargoid behaviour, and IIRC, HIP 22460 was devoid of enemies. The Legacy BGS simply was not compatible with the Thargoid war, and they decided to split it off with its own, older version of the BGS instead of just shutting it down. Legacy is still online and has open, PG and solo, but it is seperate from the live galaxy. Live gets all the new content updates, Legacy gets no more new content.

If you were to purchase Odyssey, you get landing on tenuous atmospheric planets and all the on-foot content in addition to the feature set of Horizons 4.0 - Horizons 4.0 only gets the new planet tech and all other graphical updates. In Horizons you cannot disembark, and you cannot land on atmospheric planets. You can visit Odyssey settlements on non-atmospheric planets, but there will be no NPCs and you cannot get out of your ship. In Odyssey, you can disembark in space stations and on outposts, in fleet carriers, in planetary settlements and anywhere planetside if the environment allows it.

They're all online.

Legacy is the old game and will not advance with new in-game material, story line, etc. It's pretty much a dead game, so if you're starting as a new player, don't bother with it.
