Newcomer / Intro EDRefCard Question

Hello all,

Trying for a second time to get into this game. Really want to use my TFlight HOTAS X, but I'm having a hard time controlling my ship. I took a look at EDRefcard site and I'm trying to find some bindings that might work but, where do the modifiers come from? Some are labeled modifier 1,2,etc., but that same button has maybe one or two modifiers attached to it. How do you activate a modifier? Maybe all that is too complex for a noob like myself, just want to understand how I know which button to press. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Here is a link to one as an example of what I'm talking about.

Modifier means you use that button like a Shift key on a keyboard. So modifier+other button = binding. I can't quite tell on that pic but I suspect there are 4 way switches on those 2 button on the middle pic? Each one being used like a Shift.

I have the same joystick and I don’t tend to use the modifiers just now. Maybe the easiest thing is to go through the controls and work out b8mdimgs that you feel more comfortable with, and the save that file so it comes up as selectable.

Then I would bring in that file into EDRefCard along with the keyboard bindings and use that.
It takes a while to tweak and more importantly train your muscle memory to use them, so anything that can be feasibly done on the keyboard, do that.

Thanks guys. So in the example, they have to press multiple buttons to activate that modifier mode; that's what it looks like to me anyway. Now to find some comfortable bindings. I copied the list of bindings on EDRefcard to a spreadsheet so I could sort by device, just going through the list. I read somewhere that someone used the throttle rocker for yaw instead of the twist on the stick, which I think would be beneficial since I can't seem to keep control, maybe the yaw on the stick is messing up my rolls and pitching. Any other bindings that might make life easier? Thanks again!

I switched from a Thrustmaster T flight to a warthog. I did the same to my warthog as I did for the T flight, I utilized the default and as I learned my way around the hotas, I made a few rebinds that fit me and my play style and finger dexterity.
