EDs case of Destintius

- I like the game
- It's the beginning
- You crawl before you walk

While IMHO beta players are somewhat qualified and justified to give their extended thoughts, I think there's way too much 'meta discussion' about the game. You'd think there are hundreds of full-time industry pro's on here with all the thought micro-management going on.

Too much discussion? There is no such thing. That is a frightening opinion. No one needs to be qualified or justified to post an opinion/concern or have a discussion on a forum.

Sure, there is such a thing as too much discussion, but that's not really what I was implying.

And indeed, no one needs to justify posting on a forum, talk's cheap.

The point I was getting at (at least in my mind) is there there's way too much "the sky is falling" discussion about the shortcomings of the game, and how it'll inevitably end up with the implosion of our universe. There's also a ton of philosophising going on. It's just my humble opinion that perhaps some people have their head up their arses.

I don't believe that to be the case in the slightest. Not the point of the post.

Regardless of where my head is located, I will continue to use the forums for their intended purpose.

I agree with you, its not the story, because the story is really good! And no we are not special snow flakes that need handholding, on the contrary.
Maybe the best way to explain many of the concerns, even if they have a different origin, it brings us back to the interaction with the game AND other players.

Don't misunderstand me, I LOVE Elite, I want it to be the game I'm looking for. I also see the potential for the game in the future. So FD should look at the many posts with a filter, look at the frustration from people who want the game to be good, and that is why they are very vocal in these days where we all are on vacation.

FD did a fantastic job until now, I really enjoy the game and the stability of the game. With all that said there is still an emptiness in the game. Not because of the story, as I said, nothing wrong with the story, Its the small details that make you believe or not.

Tower communication:

Just hit request docking and you get a pad number? Sorry please make it more like I am actually docking a huge space station, add holding patterns and some personal message, they can do it in DCS so it must also be possible here in ED.

Communication Between players:
Make it possible to communicate to all at a certain frequency, make a radio with different choices.

Missions:
Make them more alive, not just some TEXT in a brown box, I've been feeding hungry kids all day, and all the can say (write) is the same story.
Sorry my imagination only goes so far. Please add some vocal mission explanations.

The News:
The news we got now are great, no problem, however on a longer term, please consider something with some kind of footage.
I've added an example, how it can be done, this is not the only way you can do it in many ways.

Thank you for a great game, and I hope we will see some of this during next year, merry christmas and happy new year.

Nice ideas! /Agree

Something I just noticed that seems odd. Since emerging with my Sidewinder, pockets bursting with hundreds of credits, I have been to only Fed and indi systems. I just arrived at my first empire system to find that despite these two groups of humans being separated by hundreds of light years for hundreds of earth years, they have all the exact same space stations as their long lost brethren. Would love to see faction (superpower) specific stations, colonies etc.

Happy Festivus!

I'm honestly under the impression that they'll be rolling out a giant content patch within the month. I check the patch notes every day hoping for more content.

I agree that the game was not ready for launch, but I would really like to hope that FD knew this and has something planned!

It is a little frustrating to see people saying that the game is fine as it is, because it really isn't. I don't think it was fair to launch it in such an incomplete state, but what's done is done.

What bad reviews are people referring to? All I have read have been positive.

I think they're referring to the fact that most of the reviews cited a lack of content and gave the game a good score based on it's future potential. I haven't checked too many, but that was the running trend in the few I skimmed over.

Why should it frustrate you that I really enjoy the game as is? In terms of game play hours per buck I think this game as is offers more than most titles so it would seem fair to release it. However its obvious that the game has so many ways it can be made even better.

ARRGGHHHHHHH!!!! STOP!!!!!

It's been out less than two weeks. Count them! This is the *beginning*. It's not like we are two years into the game here. Obviously, this is the bare minimum to get things up and running and the game universe will be built up from here. From this *starting point*.

Please stop whining people. And I mean that in the most innoffensive way possible. But fact us, people need to get some perspective. And they need to stop whining. I have never seen such a whiney gamer community. Enjoy what you have. Be patient.

remember the days when developers had to sell more or less finished games or were kicked out of business with a storm if they delivered unfinished mess? Good times

Today blame the "whining customer" who expected a somewhat finished product who is paying money to give investors their returns 2 years early

When I was a young lad, I could play with two sticks, I was everything from Pilot to big game hunter. My first computer games was blocky as lego and with sounds from a calculator. I could fill in the rest. Then I got older, got my first rifle, and started to go hunting for real. I also took a pilots licence and was now a hunter and pilot for real. On the way I lost my childhood imagination.

Today, 50 something years later, I sit behind a technological alter. Now a zombie apocalypse survivor (DayZ), a space pilot (ED), a trained soldier(ArmA) and fighter ace jet pilot (DCS) All these game has one common factor, they are supposed to be hard, they are supposed to be a place where you can immerse yourself into.

People who are whining, and there are different stages of that. Are often people who didn't understand what they where getting into or was not aware of the challenges ahead. ED is not very difficult and after you have learned the basics you're good to go. As you said we paid FD a sum of money up front. Was it enough? I don't believe so, therefore they (FD) need to get the ball rolling and release the product in the best stable condition possible, and THEY DELIVERED. Now I've been playing DayZ SA from the start and it is still buggy as H***, however we got a lot of new content that is now also buggy as H***. Still I love that game because, even with all the bugs and frustration I AM that survivor when I play the game, and that is what ED need to bring into the game. The feeling of belonging there.

Was I a bit OT sure, sorry and g'day.

For sure

Looking forward to a content announcement

Does anyone know is there a published road-map of planned features/additions?
